Alston Days: March 2011
http://alstondays.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
Friday, 4 March 2011. Finally finished a cardigan that I have made for myself out of one of my charity shop finds -A bag of 10 balls of one of Louise Hardings yarns - Jasmine. I paid £3 for the lot and it was beautiful to knit with. I added some vintage buttons (another charity shop find) and made a small decorative brooch using a knitting nancy that my daughter got for Christmas. The pattern is from a book out of the library. In total, the cardigan cost me £3.50. Bargain. Links to this post. Moved from ...

Things to do in Appleby
http://theholliesappleby.co.uk/things-to-do.html

If you are here on a Tuesday morning our local Blue Badge Giude leads an excellent tour round the town. Is privately owned and now open again to the public. Tours can be booked online or at the Tourist Information office. Long distance walk from Saltaire ...

The Greenman: My Ten Favourite English Villages
http://thesnufkin.blogspot.com/2010/11/my-ten-favourate-english-villages.html
Green politics, philosophy, history, paganism and a lot of self righteous grandstanding. Monday, 8 November 2010. My Ten Favourite English Villages. The English village, a place that exists more in myth than reality today, where paternalistic squires guide the simple folks in their charming rustic ways, and Mr Darcy baths in the pond once a year. Formerly the home of wise yeomen and stout women, today the village is more likely to be the home of the simple stockbroker and his greedy wife. What can you sa...

Goose eggs were even more unfamiliar to me, but the prospect of cooking with one was quite exciting! After sifting the flour to remove ...
