Tales From The Tour

Tales From The Tour. Friday, 7 November 2008. El vino does flow. The Gisborne food and wine festival was slightly less sophisticated than we imagined - not that we're complaining, think Glastonbury rather than a village fete with local produce! We were given a glass each that would act as our ticket to each winery although most wineries were represented at the main venue at the showground (where we had camped - clever! We stayed in the carpark of a youth hostel (living the high life hey! And the next day...

Tales From The Tour. Wednesday, 10 September 2008. 5th September 2008 - Flew from Hawaii to Aukland and arrived on the 7th September (very confused by the whole date line thing especially when jet lagged and chilled out from all the beach lazing! We would have been more excited but our brains didn;t actually register it was them until 5 minutes later when Rob acutally checked with someone in case we had actually gone mad from too much sun! Arrived in Honoloulou and headed to Waikiki for the next four nig...

Tales From The Tour. Thursday, 16 October 2008. Once Dexter was mended we were on the move again and Rob's next route was straight down Highway 1 through Aukland. This seems to be New Zealand's only stretch of what we would call a motorway, everything else is more like a helter skelter! We were moving on to our next area to explore - the Coromandel Peninsula. The scenery was gorgeous with lots of forests, coasts with lovely beaches and the obligatory twistings, uphill roads! Nearby is hot water beach whe...

Tales From The Tour. Monday, 6 October 2008. We found out that the Maori name for Russell is Kororareka which means 'sweet penguin broth' - the Maori have some very interesting names for places here! We headed for the Keri Keri Peninsula which has beautiful bays and great views from the hilltops as you drive around the usual hairpin bends! At first it said Rob and Sononia (whoever she is) until he got them to understand his surname is Ansonia and he's not travelling with some Scandanivian woman! We visit...

Tales From The Tour. Friday, 26 September 2008. We flew from Rarotonga and loved the Cook Islands' idea of a departure lounge - picnic tables on the grass by the runway! He is a cabinet maker and had added cupboards, bunk beds! We agreed but thought this is bound to be a comedy journey. Aukland is a real cultural mix and has loads of great boutique type shops and places to wander around - Catherine had to be restrained from shopping too much as Rob is keeping a tight reign on the purse strings unless it'...

Tales from the Crib

May 27, 2013. I can't believe I haven't blogged since last October! It is amazing to think of all the things that have happened between then and now. Of greatest note, we had our baby! Benjamin Miles was born March 21 weighing 9lbs 4oz and 21 inches long. He is now 2 months old and just the sweetest, happiest baby around. We are SO blessed. And thankful for everyone's prayers. Posted by ♥ ♥ ♥. November 19, 2012. Lions and Tigers and Bears. Oh my! What a great female character to choose, right? But that's...

Our Tales of Two Cities

Thursday, May 7, 2015. Discovering Bali (Part 1). Unfortunately our carefree vacation took a slight turn when we both fell ill (me right before we left and Matt while we were in Bali). However, if you are going to be sick anywhere, Bali might just be the best place around. We didn’t have the energy for too many adventures, but were able to fit in a few. Here is the first part of our trip to the beautiful island. This dude really wanted a crucial selfie. Friday, April 24, 2015. I don't really know the his...

My cousin Katie and her husband Will hooked us up with some ski passes and gorgeous ski-in ski-out accommodations in Squaw Village. Once again our family went above and beyond to make sure we had a nice time. And we did. How could we not? March 9, 2014. March 7, 2014. Catching Dinner at Pike Place Market. March 6, 2014.
