Keeping Me in Stitches: November 2012
http://keepingmeinstitchestqp.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html
Keeping Me in Stitches. Wednesday, November 7, 2012. Big Horn Sheep Festival. Courtesy of the Colorado Department of Wildlife. This Saturday, November 10, 2012, is the day for Georgetown's Bighorn Sheep Festival and it is no wonder that the sheep like to come down from the mountains and head toward town with all of the activities planned for the day. Of course, there is also the fact that it's mating season and stepping out to town for a date is a time-honored tradition in so many cultures. I’ve re...

Keeping Me in Stitches: Made in America?
http://keepingmeinstitchestqp.blogspot.com/2014/02/made-in-america.html
Keeping Me in Stitches. Tuesday, February 11, 2014. Courtesy of www.westfield.ma.edu. Today, I try to carry American made products in the shop whenever I can, but the majority of fabric is produced overseas and then imported. I have better luck with locally and American produced yarn and also carry a line of knitting needles and crochet hooks, Brittany Birch. That are a totally American production. But again, some of the yarn and notions I carry are produced overseas. Courtesy of Brittany Birch Co. IR...

Keeping Me in Stitches: Preserving the Past (and a few strawberries)
http://keepingmeinstitchestqp.blogspot.com/2013/07/preserving-past-and-few-strawberries.html
Keeping Me in Stitches. Saturday, July 20, 2013. Preserving the Past (and a few strawberries). A few days ago, I put up a double batch of strawberry-pineapple jam while my mind took a walk down memory lane. My first memory of making jam goes back to when I was a very young girl, perhaps only five or six years old. The setting was my grandmother's kitchen and the cast of characters included Memere (my grandmother), my mom, my aunts Jeannette and Theresa, and myself. July 20, 2013 at 3:41 PM. We are doing ...

Keeping Me in Stitches: March 2013
http://keepingmeinstitchestqp.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
Keeping Me in Stitches. Thursday, March 28, 2013. Quilting from 6 to 96. A couple of weeks ago while having lunch with my brother John, he told me about a project that parishioners in his church worked on a few years ago. Folks from 6 to 96 years of age gathered to create quilts to donate to a children's hospital as part of their Lenten program. A Blessed and Happy Easter. Happy Passover for my Jewish readers! Wednesday, March 20, 2013. Thursday, March 7, 2013. Heels, and Gussets, and Toes, Oh My! Our fi...

Keeping Me in Stitches: In Touch with the Past
http://keepingmeinstitchestqp.blogspot.com/2013/06/in-touch-with-past.html
Keeping Me in Stitches. Saturday, June 8, 2013. In Touch with the Past. When we arrived in Aarhus, Denmark, we were greeted by this charming young woman with information and an invitation to visit Den Gamle By. I was able to purchase a kit for this traditional tie shawl at the museum store. The directions were all in Danish, but included an email address to get the "recipe" in English! They sent it along with good wishes for my shawl knitting. Finally, my favorite picture from Den Gamle By . The pattern ...

Keeping Me in Stitches: January 2014
http://keepingmeinstitchestqp.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Keeping Me in Stitches. Thursday, January 30, 2014. Of Memories, Mothers, and Making Mistakes. It's been months since I posted anything on this blog, despite my good intentions to do so. Three topics have been running around in my mind and I've decided to combine them, if for no other reason than the wonderful alliterative quality of the title above. The first topic has to do with memories and how people who make it up the twenty stairs to The Quilted Purl. Who has it now? Brothers and sisters,. I rememb...

Keeping Me in Stitches: Block of the Month in Czarist Russia?
http://keepingmeinstitchestqp.blogspot.com/2013/06/block-of-month-in-czarist-russia.html
Keeping Me in Stitches. Wednesday, June 12, 2013. Block of the Month in Czarist Russia? One of our many ports of call was St. Petersburg, Russia. As we toured the Hermitage, Peterhof, and the Yusupov Palace, I was probably the only person taking more pictures of the flooring than many of the other amazing architectural wonders and works of art. But I kept wondering, did Catherine the Great belong to a Block of the Month Club? June 12, 2013 at 2:01 PM. Seen by an artists eye! View my complete profile.
