See and Hear John. Wednesday, August 31st, 2016. His is an uphill battle - chaffing against the goad of the mental health establishment - and I'm positive that his crusade is by divine appointment. Go John Rosemond! The study program helps parents take a serious look at their parenting philosophy. It. Gives parents a map that is centered on biblical principles and a practical plan for raising their children in today's world. I just finished reading "PBTB" and I wanted to tell you how wonderful it is!
John's Testimony

See and Hear John. Wednesday, August 31st, 2016. Upon doing so, he came to the conclusion that the only answer that fit the evidence was an unqualified Yes! I read Lee’s book and, being an intellectually honest person, agreed. Nothing dramatic happened. No flashes of blinding light, no earthquakes, no temporary blindness, no tears. Just Oh! I’m still a bit wild and crazy, but I’m not nearly as smart as I used to be.

John's Essays Genesis 2:24
http://www.parentingbythebook.com/Johns-Essays.html
See and Hear John. Wednesday, August 31st, 2016. John's Essays Genesis 2:24. In 2002, John began writing essays based on scripture passages that reflect God's plan for child rearing. Below are the essays to date. In the not too distant future, these will be compiled into a book that John is writing. John's Essay 1 (Genesis 2:24). For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh. (Genesis 2:24). The children lack a model of what being truly m...

Tuesday, August 27, 2013. I’ve posted adoption myths, I thought it would be fun to post some homeschooling myths. 3 Myth: Special needs kids can’t be homeschooled. I totally disagree. I believe that homeschooling our special needs kids helps them succeed. We know their needs, quirks, buttons, so much better than anyone else. Plus, to our kids consternation, we don’t enable them. We push their limits because we know they can do it. 7 Myth: They won’t make it in the “real world” because t...Have you seen h...

Thursday, May 21, 2015. After more than 12 years, our first one has moved out. She spent most of last week getting her apartment ready, and then slept there the first time Friday night. Hard on this ole mom who just wants all her little ducklings to stay home. It has been a tough couple of months. I wish I could say she moved out because she felt she was ready. She really moved out because peer pressure said she needed to get out from under our “controlling thumb”. Isn’t that the proper thing to do?

Sunday, January 25, 2015. Tiffany is the youngest biological sibling to Nicole, Jaime, and Donald. When we got Tiffany at 3-years-old, and she learned her full name….we had to call her “Tiffany Sue Buffalou” (not Butterfield). If we didn’t say the full name, she wouldn’t answer, or she’d answer with her hands on her hips, and say that’s not my name. Tiffany is also our hugger and smiles a lot. The elderly people at church gravitate towards her (and Ashley) because of their smiles. Tiffany also likes to b...

Wednesday, April 1, 2015. Brandy and family - 2015. The youngest of our three biological kids. My right hand man. Other than Dave….my best friend. I bounce ideas off her. Share my struggles with the other kids with her and use your wisdom to settle some issues I have with the other kids (another perspective from a younger mom). Growing up she always wanted a little sister. We first approached adoption when she was just shy of 6-years-old. Which made the boys 8- and 7-years-old. She’s been doing our...

Wednesday, March 25, 2015. Jason and family - 2015. Jason is one of those kids (OK…he’s 34 now! That when people looked at his pictures when he was young would say, “I bet he’s the handful.” They always said it was in the eyes. Others would say that if I found him missing, check their house. There were LOTS of those too. I would have no clue where to start to look. I’d have to tell them that I would sit back and wait because they’d be paying me to take him back. Such a fun kid! He has three beautiful kid...

Monday, April 21, 2014. Palm Sunday 2014 is going to be a Sunday always imprinted on our hearts. All nine of our new kids were Baptized! Ages 3- to 15. My mom and brother showed up which is the first time in 14 years, that I know of, they’ve been in church. I’m praying they got a lot out of the message. Here are a couple of pictures. Enjoy! Sunday, March 23, 2014. Things are smoothing out for the most part. Life is going forward. Just as I think we don’t have another appointment though, something comes up but I guess that’s life too. I can use it for the most part, just can’t extend it all the way to reach for something. Glad that is over. As for Nehemiah and our “issue” on my last post……his mom has still not written him. Two of his grandmas have sent two of the kids birthday cards but sent directly to us. I ...Homeschooling is moving along...

Friday, May 2, 2014. I know this is a bit late but…. Easter went well. Some of the kids dyed eggs for the very first time. Some have never hunted for eggs before. It was great to be able to be with them for their “firsts”. It is funny that some would rather adopt a newborn so they can experience the child’s “firsts”. I’m here to say, even at 15- and 13-years-old, there are still some firsts to experience. There is one in every crowd LOL. Even 17-year-old boys still get into the egg dying process. My Favo...

Saturday, February 28, 2015. The youngest of all my girls. Sofia Rose, as fun as her name. She wanted her ears pierced for her birthday last week (she turned 8). I told the ear piercer lady that this was the last of my little girls to get their ears done. Another lady, that we’ve known for many years, was walking by and heard. She said, “yeah right. I’ll believe that when I see it.”. Who knows what God has planned. My favorite girl ages are 6- and 7-years-old. Bittersweet our youngest girl is now 8.

Witch Mom
Thursday, February 15, 2018. My child has been going with me on field trips to other religions' houses of worship lately, because I teach "Neighboring Faiths" at the local UU to middle schoolers. Last week, we went to a Catholic mass. I personally was admiring how everyone was on the same page with the hymns, call and response, and how beautiful the sanctuary art was. Mass ritual can be so soothing, you know? Things my little witchlet did not understand or like:. 1 "Why do they have dead Jesus everywhere?

Parenting by the Seat of My Pants
Wednesday, February 24, 2010. How I Met My Husband. We were home visiting from college. We attended the University of Oregon in Eugene, about 100 miles south of Portland. Ironically, he wasn't from Portland and neither was his roommate. He isn't even sure why he was in the city that night. I don’t even remember if we had dinner. The only reason I remember the movie is because years later I found the ticket stubs. Our relationship wasn’t even serious enough for him to invite me to his graduation....

Parenting by the Seat of Our Pants
Parenting by the Seat of Our Pants. Thursday, May 13, 2010. I put the wheels in motion a few days ago (sometimes karma is fast-acting) while disposing of a cache of promotional e-mails: Right before hitting the delete button, I had a change of heart and forwarded my latest World Market message to Kevin. It said:. I was thrilled for him. Being a parent of five means little time for study and reflection, and Kevin said this came at a really good time-. Exactly what he needed. Wasn’t the problem! So, needle...
