PennGSE Student Journals

The life of a PennGSE Psychological Services student. Tuesday, May 26, 2009. While some student pack up and leave for the summer, UPenn's campus is still quite active. Today is the first day of Summer I classes. Enrolled students are out and about reading syllabi, buying books, and getting down to work. Good thing the weather is conducive for cozying up in the library. It's rainy and feels like the 50s. I'll be back to you soon with more updates about life here at GSE! Friday, May 8, 2009. The life of a PennGSE Psychological Services student. Sunday, March 15, 2009. Spring is almost here! I can feel it in there air. There are buds on the trees, green plants are sprouting, and I even saw some yellow daffodils outside of the Graduate School of Education building the other day. Yay! Speaking of spring. this past week was my spring break! It wasn't all break. I was able to incorporate a combo of fun stuff and catching up. I was screaming the whole time. It was really fun! PennGSE Student Journals: 5 Reasons Why Spring Rocks

http://www.penngsejournalcathy.blogspot.com/2009/04/5-reasons-why-spring-rocks.html

The life of a PennGSE Psychological Services student. Thursday, April 23, 2009. 5 Reasons Why Spring Rocks. 1 You can study outside. Tomorrow I plan to study outside with some Psychological Services friends! We have an exam coming up in our Practicum class and study together has been super helpful in the past. It's good to have people to bounce ideas off of and clarify information. Plus it's fun to be with friends and we plan of getting Mexican food from one of the food carts on Spruce. At this point in ...

The life of a PennGSE Psychological Services student. Thursday, April 2, 2009. The group as a social microcosm. Yesterday, I co-lead a group discussion on privilege and oppression in my group therapy class. Here is the script we created to guide the discussion:. Setting Norms (3-5 minutes). Being respectful of diverse opinions and each other; what does that look like? Make sure everyone has a chance to speak, because we value what everyone has to say. This piece of construction paper represents your self...

The life of a PennGSE Psychological Services student. Friday, May 8, 2009. When I went to the GSE orientation I was really nervous. I wanted to find a group of peers that I felt comfortable with. I also wanted to find my way out of Wharton. I got lost in that building my first day. This year at GSE has been invaluable to my growth. I now understand myself, as well as others more fully. I'm half way there. :). Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education.

The life of a PennGSE Psychological Services student. Tuesday, February 24, 2009. Last weekend I went skiing with my boyfriend at Camelback. Which is located in northeast Pennsylvania. This trip was super fun for so many reasons. The conditions were great and we got to do a ton of skiing. One of the best parts was where we were staying. A colleague. Of my boyfriend organized the trip. He found a house that was within walking distance from the slopes, so we were able to carry our equipment. University of ...

Hi, I'm Sarah! I'm a current Higher Education Master's degree candidate at Penn's Graduate School of Education. I live in University City, and I love discovering new fun things to do in Philadelphia. Monday, April 27, 2009. The Day I Did No Schoolwork. Personal care is so important to grad school survival, and as you know, final paper season is in full swing. So, this past Saturday, I decided (spontaneously) to have a fun day. It was fun to spend time with people outside of class and it was an honor to have a faculty member with us! Sunday marked a return to the real world of research and paper writing, but the fun day has rejuvenated me! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Penn GSE Student Journals.

So basically, I will be working with incredible leaders in child development to develop positive behavior incentives, and brilliant public health officials who hope to evaluate student experience, while my job will be to play with the students. I am getting paid to go to recess. It is the best job in the world! Who doesn’t want to play dodgeball and kickball and mash? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Welcome to my teaching portfolio. Friday, February 27, 2009. Strappy sandals or pointy slingbacks? 8221; Truly mind blowing. At about 12 noon, I scrambled to meet my volunteers at second lunch for recess support. Here, I headed up a game of kickball. Man, is it hard to play kickball without pinnies! I cannot keep track of which kid is on what team and there is a solid group of five or six kids who seem to always be in the kicking line-up and never in the outfield. And it all came full circle. http://pennevegse.blogspot.com/2009/04/bane-of-my-ga-existence.html

Wednesday, April 8, 2009. The Bane of my GA Existence. Like many a college tradition, Spring Fling is really just another excuse for undergrads (and underagers) to drink excessively. Akon and Guster will perform. Sororities will have dunk tanks. Fraternities will have jousting. And as if Penn paid off Mother Nature, the weather will be perfectly 70 degrees with a light spring breeze. It’s been a long semester and you deserve a chance to let loose! Have food in your stomach and love in your heart,.

Sunday, March 22, 2009. Philly Girls Roller Derby. There were grunts, bruises, stocking rips, and blood. I left the roller derby feeling like a wimpy, nerdy grad student.
