I've been on a mad hunt for firm, smoked ricotta for months and months, ever since I grated some into a sauce with nduja and homemade passata at work (that fella Francesco Mazzei won my heart from the first mouthful). I still haven't got my grubby hands on any - and that's because it's a very seasonal (and very shy) cheese. Find, to huge delight, a ball of sweet, creamy, woody smoked provola. With smoked provola and 'n'duja. 7g sachet of fast-action dried yeast. 1tsp fine sea salt.

Having lived in Balham for five years I had never been drawn into Caffe Moka. Now I live in nearby Furzedown I have finally got around to going, my only regret is not having gone earlier. I've been to this place twice now, first visit was ok, second very good. This place is a bit hipster, which sometimes comes with nonchalant service but this place managed not to fall completely in to that trap. I had piece of banana cake/loaf which was yum. Baby Spiller got most of that though. There food menu looks good too, some great looking sandwiches on big bread.

Friday, August 14, 2015. I wanted the first set of pictures to be special, I'm sentimental like that, but I didn't want to slave in the kitchen. So I decided to bake some Blueberry Muffins. Just look at these beauties! Turned out that I ran out of milk and yogurt. Now I was in a fix! Milk, I could do without, but yogurt? That's essential to eggless baking.
