A shared heritage comes up trumps | Postcards from Down Under

https://postcardsfromdownunder.wordpress.com/2009/08/07/a-shared-heritage-comes-up-trumps

Postcards from Down Under. Just another WordPress.com weblog. What’s this all about then, laddie? Leave those flies alone, they are your only friends here. A shared heritage comes up trumps. August 7, 2009. Friday 7 August 2009. The suitcases are packed and the TimTams procured. We are almost ready to leave Australia behind, to return to reality. While this Pom could whinge about a few things (lack of public toilets in Sydney for example), the welcome and hospitality we have received has been fantastic.

Postcards from Down Under. Just another WordPress.com weblog. What’s this all about then, laddie? Newer posts →. August 5, 2009. Sunday 2 August 2009. We were off to Fremantle. The port at the mouth of the Swan River. The City has given its name to the sea breeze experienced in the Perth area – the Fremantle Doctor. Which was originally called the Fremantle Docker, as we learned later that day. The main event was a tour of the famous Fremantle Prison. In the anglican chapel, the ten commandments set out ...

Postcards from Down Under. Just another WordPress.com weblog. What’s this all about then, laddie? Leave those flies alone, they are your only friends here →. August 6, 2009. Thursday 6 August 2009. Last full day in Australia, so almost the last chance to do some shopping for those things you can only get over here. So it’s off to Paddy’s Markets. In Sydney’s Chinatown. T-shirts and a few other bits and pieces. This entry was posted in Postcard. And tagged Aboriginal Art. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

Postcards from Down Under. Just another WordPress.com weblog. What’s this all about then, laddie? A shared heritage comes up trumps →. Leave those flies alone, they are your only friends here. August 7, 2009. Thursday 6 August 2009. I was allowed out again on my own today. You can probably guess the destination – The Sydney Cricket Ground. Some great names played cricket for New South Wales – such as Fred “The Demon” Spofforth. To name but a few! Once the Sydney Swans AFL team had finished their practice...

Enumerator: May 2007

http://enumerator-enumerator.blogspot.com/2007_05_01_archive.html

A place for me to let off steam about family history research, the blogosphere, or just life in general. Monday, 14 May 2007. Had it with the spammers. I had a very nice little guestbook on my family history website. It was a great feeling to get an e-mail to say that someone had posted an entry on there. But then the spammers started coming. This meant laboriously working through all the spam entries and deleting them (one by one). Some of the guestbook spam pointed to pages on sites run by educational ...

Enumerator: Jol Jolly LOL

http://enumerator-enumerator.blogspot.com/2008/10/jol-jolly-lol.html

A place for me to let off steam about family history research, the blogosphere, or just life in general. Sunday, 19 October 2008. Tottenham Hotspur's defeat at Stoke. Today, leaving them adrift at the bottom of the English Premier League, 3 points below Newcastle (who have a game in hand), must bring a light smile to Martin Jol's face. It must make up for the fact that his latest club, Hamburg, failed to beat Schalke o4. Today But Hamburg do remain top of the Bundesliga. 31 October 2008 at 18:53. If a we...

Enumerator: How badly read am I?

A place for me to let off steam about family history research, the blogosphere, or just life in general. Sunday, 12 October 2008. How badly read am I? Reading this post by the inestimable Bill Blunt http:/ bluntbyname.blogspot.com/2008/08/of-books-and-men.html. I decided to respond to the challenge. In short, the average adult has only read 6 of the top 100 books that came out of the BBC's Big Read survey. The groundrules are that you should:. 1) Look at the list. And embolden those you have read. 12 Tes...

Enumerator: Speed must go, with undue haste

http://enumerator-enumerator.blogspot.com/2007/04/speed-must-go-with-undue-haste.html

A place for me to let off steam about family history research, the blogosphere, or just life in general. Sunday, 29 April 2007. Speed must go, with undue haste. What other sport’s governing body but cricket’s can completely mess-up their showcase tournament? The Cricket World Cup in the West Indies can only be seen as an unmitigated disaster. Granted, the International Cricket Council. Cannot be held responsible for the mysterious death of Bob Woolmer. But most of the other sins can be laid at their door:.

A place for me to let off steam about family history research, the blogosphere, or just life in general. Sunday, 22 April 2007. A lifesaver for timid bloggers. Told me about a wonderful site with help for bloggers to adjust their templates to meet their more particular needs. I can heartily recommend it - Tips for New Bloggers. It's worth reading quite a few of the tips first, before trying anything - and don't forget to download your template before trying anything! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Enumerator: Cyndi speaks

http://enumerator-enumerator.blogspot.com/2007/04/cyndi-speaks.html

A place for me to let off steam about family history research, the blogosphere, or just life in general. Sunday, 22 April 2007. The doyenne of genealogy websites, Cyndi Howells, has recently started her very own blog. So why is Cyndi so important? Her website Cyndi's List. Cyndi's List has now been going for more than ten years, and it is interesting to read Cyndi's. Observations (and frustrations) about how people use the web and issues associated with running such an important site. 14 May 2007 at 08:53.

Postcards From Dallas

All Ava and Ian, All The Time. Tuesday, August 8, 2017. Easter is big fun! Ava was SQUIRMY all through mass, but was entertained by her buddies Trish (her babysitter), AJ (her favorite little buddy), and the entire Boyle family who sat behind us. She was making quite a racket in her new "clappy" shoes. We tried to make a quiet exit during the homily, but I think everyone heard us! Sunday, November 29, 2009. Tuesday, September 15, 2009. Ian snuggling with his cousin Hailey. View of the Oregon side. Monday...

Postcards from Decatur

Based on the title "Postcards from the Edge" but I don't exactly live on the edge. Friday, July 30, 2010. No, I don't wear the same clothing and take self portraits with my dog every day of the week. I just had some pics that got left out of the last post that I can't resist sharing:. And finally, she's had enough of mom's shenanigans and makes a break for it:. Tuesday, July 27, 2010. Slightly pathetic, but still precious to me. The following photographs document such an occurrence:. Sunday, July 25, 2010.

Drafts and sketches by Edward Mackay see www.edwardmackay.com. Song of the Sea [draft]. July 13, 2013. I could speak,. Should I ever tire of singing –. Should I exhaust my bellowing-blue mewings,. My mizen-squall song, the roaring buffet. Of my polyphonic tumble. I could reduce myself,. Plod words into tales of salt and sand and stone,. Anatomise the spectrum-smear I am,. I can't believe it's almost been an entire year since i've blogged! Life has been going by at record pace (most of the time, that is). unfortunately, i won't be returning from my insanely long blogging hiatus, but you that doesn't mean we can't still be friends. :). As for life now, i am happier than i've ever been. life is also more chaotic than ever, but i've found that chaos isn't nearly as scary when you're happy. And i regularly tweet silly ramblings about my life. So please lovelies, get in touch!

Postcards from East Africa

Tuesday, September 25, 2012. Our return trip to Zambia was always meant to be a quick one and I thought we did well to get back to Lusaka in around 3.5 days, although our days were very long! From Diani Beach we headed south back into Tanzania, a very quick border and the Tanzanian customs officials were great giving us a cheaper visa for transit ($30pp for 7 days). Day one of the drive was pretty easy. A couple of issues with police but we felt $6 for the day was ok. Day three went perfectly. We lef...
