Irony Becomes Her: June 2006
http://beekerific.blogspot.com/2006_06_01_archive.html
Friday, June 23, 2006. How can the guests of the bridegroom mourn while he is with them? The time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them; then they will fast. No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment, for the patch will pull away from the garment, making the tear worse. Neither do men pour new wine into old wineskins." Matthew 9:15-17. How easy it will be to regain the forgotten pounds if I continue to wear this! The same concept came to me in church last Sunday, in which se...

Irony Becomes Her: November 2005

Saturday, November 26, 2005. The Importance of Hyphens. I just received an email with a most apparently inconsequential title:. Hard to Find DVDs at DeepDiscountDVD.com! So is deconstruction legitimate, or is it merely a smart aleck's way to expose other people's lack of care when using their language? I'm sure that in some ways it is both. But we should eliminate one problem before tackling the other. Posted by Lynn @ 6:55 AM. Wednesday, November 23, 2005. How do those squirrels do it? I looked up into ...

Irony Becomes Her: April 2006
http://beekerific.blogspot.com/2006_04_01_archive.html
Tuesday, April 25, 2006. Perseverance and Good Soil. We begin with a story of my dear friends' cat, Seeky. (Their other cat, which they got before Seeky, is named Heidi.) During a slumber party at their house Friday night, she spotted one of the girls' dolls lying on the couch. Closer she crept, patiently and intensely. Every move she made was a credit to feline sneakiness capabilities. The doll continued to lie there with the impudence common to inanimate objects. Desire has "conceived" that sin occurs&...

Wednesday, June 29, 2005. If it weren't for the fifteen insect bites. On each of my ankles, I would be in the best of health. As it is, the frustration of constant itching is only exceeded by puzzlement at whence came my malady so suddenly on Monday afternoon. Posted by Lynn @ 9:03 AM. Monday, June 27, 2005. What Mark 9 Means to Me. That was to be our primary focus. It is a well-meaning and usually harmless question, but I dislike the possibility that such an inquiry would rule out the possibility of...

Irony Becomes Her: February 2006
http://beekerific.blogspot.com/2006_02_01_archive.html
Tuesday, February 28, 2006. I have days of inexplicable gloom. I can try to explain it, but language (supposedly "my thing") even fails me and everything sounds trite and whiny. When it goes this far, I can be quite a Qohelet: "Everything is meaningless. What does [wo]man gain from all h[er] labor at which [s]he toils under the sun? Then the sun rises again, and I soar upward with David: "The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance.". We were given ano...

Irony Becomes Her: March 2006
http://beekerific.blogspot.com/2006_03_01_archive.html
Monday, March 27, 2006. Open Toes, Open Wounds. I stubbed my toe. If pain is God's megaphone, maybe he's trying to tell me something. I am so sore today that the toe-stubbing was only a brief and sadly bloody increase in it. The open-toed shoes which failed to protect the piggy who went to market had to be reassumed, since the only thing worse than an open wound is a covered one. What non-hackneyed symbolism shall I find here? Is crap- the Dead Poets version anyway. Posted by Lynn @ 3:01 PM. I am staring...

Monday, May 22, 2006. This is the disciple which testifieth of these things: and we know that his testimony is true. And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.". Enough for the rest of my mortal life and beyond. Amen. Posted by Lynn @ 8:22 AM. Sunday, May 21, 2006. A Tip Without Q. My sophomore English teacher in high school did an enlightening exercise...

The Chronicles: October 2005
http://birdingchronicles.blogspot.com/2005_10_01_archive.html
Wednesday, October 19, 2005. The days have been glorious of late, bringing with them warm sunshine and restorative breezes. Sometimes, their pull is too strong, and I have to respond. I couldn’t find too many birds at first, and I wondered if 90 degrees was still too hot for them. Crickets scampered at my feet, though, and a few butterflies played among the flowers. The bell tower chimed, reminding me of that unnatural thing called time, and I turned back. The woodpecker and the doves detained me for...

The Chronicles: August 2005
http://birdingchronicles.blogspot.com/2005_08_01_archive.html
Saturday, August 27, 2005. Escapades with junior birders. Part of loving something is passing that love down to others. That’s why I’m a birder now, I think. As soon as I came home from school, I introduced my three and four-year-old brothers to the world of birding. They quickly caught on to my enthusiasm. Trips to the library would produce a plethora of bird books in our home, and the boys were always anxious to view the birds I pointed out to them. Nathan and William enjoy one of their many bird books.
