Deep Thoughts in the Early Morning | Provincial Heritage Fair 2010

Provincial Heritage Fair 2010. The Richmond-Delta Expedition to the Cariboo. Deep Thoughts in the Early Morning. Over the course of the fair I’ve been rising early, around 4 am, which gives me a couple of hours of silence to read and muse on the previous day’s events. I like listening to the building coming to life, with the tiptoeing girls making their shower pilgrimages down the stairs, and the bleary-eyed boys groaning themselves awake. Day 4 (Saturday) | Provincial Heritage Fair 2010
https://heritagefair.wordpress.com/2010/07/04/day-4-saturday
Provincial Heritage Fair 2010. The Richmond-Delta Expedition to the Cariboo. Saturday was Barkerville Day. Another substantial breakfast at Northwoods Restaurant, followed by a quick bus trip to the historical site. The weather was mixed — cloud and sun — but at no point did we actually have rain. A rapid walk took us back to the park entrance, where bag lunches were served. But we had barely taken a bite when it was time to run up to the Theatre Royal for the matinée show. We finished our lunches while ...

Provincial Heritage Fair 2010. The Richmond-Delta Expedition to the Cariboo. This photograph is dark and blurry, but it gives you the sense of chaotic fun occurring at the Quesnel swimming pool right now. After a day spent first in Barkerville, then at the Quesnel museum, the fair delegates have had an opportunity indulge in some free time and recreation tonight. Judging from the happy screams coming from the pool, this is a definite highlight. But there wasn’t time to watch the bread rise. We ...No matt...

Day 2 (Thursday) | Provincial Heritage Fair 2010
https://heritagefair.wordpress.com/2010/07/01/day-2-thursday
Provincial Heritage Fair 2010. The Richmond-Delta Expedition to the Cariboo. My day began at 4 am as I thought I’d avoid any rush on the bathrooms. Last night we had been warned that showers are discouraged — and not only because the hot water reeks of sulphur. I thought it would be safe to finish my morning routine and have a couple hours of silent reading before others awoke. Breakfast over, we were off to Barkerville for the official showcase. The students were divided into three areas — Bar...The ...
