Journey to Africa

Friday, November 13, 2009. So earlier this week, a group of us went sandboarding near the capital. Actually, they went sandboarding while Melissa and I watched. I didn't participate for a couple of reasons: First, I was wearing a skirt and that would just have been asking for trouble. :) Second, something about sliding down a huge hill on a piece of wood didn't really appeal to me. But, it was worth it to watch the others and to admire the beautiful scenery! Here are some pictures from the day! At least ...

Journey to Africa: February 2006

http://www.racheltoafrica.blogspot.com/2006_02_01_archive.html

Monday, February 20, 2006. A couple of my teammates and I went for a walk out in the woods behind our training center. I was able to look around me and see in nature the beautiful design of creation. Here are some pictures that I hope you will enjoy! I love the pictures of the water because it reminds me that "as the deer pants for streams of water.". Those of you who have ever done a puzzle of flowers can probably understand the frustration of trying to find where that particular little flower goes.

Journey to Africa: October 2006

http://www.racheltoafrica.blogspot.com/2006_10_01_archive.html

Wednesday, October 04, 2006. So one night while we were in Niamey, we were driving back to the guesthouse and came to a stop at a red light. We looked over and this was the sight we were met with! These little boys paint themselves up. They are supposed to be representing rabbits (not entirely sure why). They do this during the evenings of Ramadan. At first, we weren't sure what to do - do we laugh at them, do we ignore them? Posted by Rachel @ 11:28 PM. View my complete profile. Pictures of my new home!

Journey to Africa: August 2006

http://www.racheltoafrica.blogspot.com/2006_08_01_archive.html

Tuesday, August 22, 2006. A great adventure in the bush. Okayanother great story for you! We decided one day, since we didn't have our truck, that we would try walking to our village. We were sure we knew the way and figured it couldn't take us too long. So, we left the house bright and early at 7:00 am - stocked with water and other necessities. After about an hour and a half of walking, we began to realize that we were not anywhere that looked familiar! We were definitely lost! We were actually a littl...

Of all the things You have created. But still You choose to think of me. Who am I that You should suffer. Your very life to set me free. The only thing that I can give You. Is the life You gave to me. This is my offering, dear Lord. This is my offering to You, God. And I will give You my life.

Musings of a Globe Jaunt. In Words and Polaroids. Snakefruit, Sambal and Sustainable Schooling: An Adventure in Bali. On June 9, 2011 by racheltobias. The number one reason why I love Ubud and would in a moment move my life here is that I appreciate being able to walk up and down the street, alone if I chose, and smile without even a thought. Here, a smile is just a smile. Flower petals and rice, to large offerings of lavish fruits, meats, and flowers piled atop each other in a beautiful package. It ...
