Wednesday, April 21, 2010. I am not fond of Adai but recently came across a recipe which gives crispy adai which i loved it.Here is the recipe. Idly batter – 1/2 cup. Toor dal – 1/4 cup. Channa Dhal – 1/4 cup. Red chillies- 7 nos. Ginger – A small piece. Asafoetida – 1/4 tsp. Oil – to cook. 1Soak the toor dhal and channa dhal for 3 to 4 hours. 2Grind them with red chillies,ginger,asafoetida,salt. 3Add half cup of idli batter and required amount of water so that it comes in the consistency of idli batter.

As i am a big fan of vatral Kuzhambu i usually add vegetables,onion,different vadams for varied tastes.Recently came across this vatral kuzhambu recipe with papad in Jeyashri's Kitchen. And it turned out really tasty. Curry Leaves-5 to 6 leaves. 1Keep tamarind in microwave for a minute and take the extract alone. 2In a pan add oil,mustard,fenugreek seeds,red chillies. 3Cut papads into small pieces and add to the above until it is slightly roasted. Tuesday, October 20, 2009. 1Soak tamarind,turmeric powder and salt in water. 2In a pan fry mustard,urad dhal,channa dhal,onion(till golden brown),asafoetida,red chillies,coriander leaves,salt. 3Add 1 to 2 and allow it to cook. 4Add this gravy to rice and allow it to cook in cooker.
