Random Daily Walks: Pwllcrochan
http://randomdailywalks.blogspot.com/2015/03/pwllcrochan.html
Trip reports of day walks. Monday, 23 March 2015. They are back and and there is no longer any danger of becoming lost. We headed first for Pembroke so that the "Navigator" could look at sheds. With that accomplished we drove to Pwllcrochan to start our walk. The car park was adjacent to the Church of St Marys which apparently is owned by Texaco. Following our lunch the coast path was joined and the route took us north around the headland where we viewed the austere Fort Popton. View my complete profile.

Random Daily Walks: February 2015
http://randomdailywalks.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Trip reports of day walks. Friday, 27 February 2015. With a good forecast on offer Paul and I decided on a walk and as "The Navigator" was not involved we had to resort to a walk made up by another. I have frequently referred to books by Alan Richards which describe some excellent walks in Carmarthenshire and today we chose a route from volume 2 based on Gelliwen. As usual it was a varied walk with green lanes, minor roads and forestry trails giving good views. A lunch break was had at Llanwinio Church.

Random Daily Walks: Cynghordy, the Sequel
http://randomdailywalks.blogspot.com/2015/03/cynghordy-sequel.html
Trip reports of day walks. Saturday, 28 March 2015. Cynghordy, the Sequel. Regular readers will recall that a week ago Paul and I were foiled in our attempt to complete this walk. Today we were back and determined to be completists. Now that we knew the first part of the route we made good progress. A coffee break was had after a steep climb out of the valley at Gilfach Farm. Before long the high ground gave views down to Cynghordy and its well known viaduct. Why an ancient petrol pump? A well used piano.

Random Daily Walks: December 2014
http://randomdailywalks.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Trip reports of day walks. Wednesday, 31 December 2014. Gower Three Cliffs and Cefn Bryn. Andy and Fran were with us for a few days and the outdoors beckoned. The day before Andy and I went for a 25 mile bike ride along the Millennium Coast Path from Pembrey to Machynys and back. Today Fran wanted some fresh air and we headed to the Gower. As a guide I used the Cicerone book about walks in the Gower. Three Cliffs Bay from near Great Tor. Penrice Estate Gate House. Climbing onto Cefn Bryn. They even have ...

Random Daily Walks: August 2014
http://randomdailywalks.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Trip reports of day walks. Monday, 18 August 2014. Monday's trip was to head east and visit Sinc y Giedd. This is where the Afon Giedd disappears underground. We parked in a lay by a church not far from the DanYr Ogof cave complex and then headed up Cwm Haffes. The rain which was supposed to have stopped by 1100 failed to agree with the Met Office and it was on with kit and off again. We had lunch at Sinc Yr Giedd, with no sign of any water and I assume it had sunk somewhere else. No sign of river. I can...

Random Daily Walks: Cynghordy
http://randomdailywalks.blogspot.com/2015/03/cynhordy.html
Trip reports of day walks. Friday, 20 March 2015. Confession is good for the soul. So here goes. With the "Navigator" on his way back from Austria, Paul and I decided on another walk from the book of Alan Richards. This was one of his shorter walks and took Cynghordy as its centre. The farm we wanted in the centre. We followed one path and then retraced our steps not realising we had passed the required path twice! View back up valley. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Random Daily Walks: St Dogmaels - Cemais head- St Dogmaels
http://randomdailywalks.blogspot.com/2015/03/st-dogmaels-cemais-head-st-dogmaels.html
Trip reports of day walks. Thursday, 5 March 2015. St Dogmaels - Cemais head- St Dogmaels. I had recently mentioned to "The Navigator" that I had seen an episode of "Weatherman Walking" where Derek had undertaken a walk in St Dogmaels. I knew the river side area well as we often canoe down the Afon Teifi either to egress at St Dogmaels or paddle past it. However I had not visited the town and its Abbey. Lo and behold this was to be our destination for our Monday walk. Mill pond near visitor centre. St Do...

RANDOM BACKPACKING: May 2012
http://randombackpacking.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html
Friday, 18 May 2012. AN UNWANTED STOP TO PROCEDURES. Just before Easter 2012, my knee gave way and now walking has come to an end. Off to see (no doubt pricy) private consultant on 8th June to see what can be done. Thankfully I have discovered that cycling has no apparent affect to my knee and certainly no pain. I will also see if canoeing without kneeling is suitable. I always tend to kneel. Anyway cycle stuff can be found at http:/ randombikerides.blogspot.co.uk/. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

RANDOM BACKPACKING: June 2010
http://randombackpacking.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
Monday, 28 June 2010. My First Bacpacking Trip Arenig Fawr/Moel Llyfnant. My First Backpacking Trip. How did all of this start? Well I have been hill walking for some 25 years or more, but always from a base, be it camping, Youth Hostel or cottage or daily trips from home. Also wild camped on numerous occasions but this is from an open canoe where weight has not been a concern. Having listened to the pod casts of Bob Cartwright published on the Out. Ional hazard in West Wales! So on the June 25. I was pl...
