That's what I do! Today’s painting: Stone House, day 2. Powers of Ten/Under the Knife →. November 12, 2012. I worked on the windows just a little bit today. Ugh, the colors in the photo are all wrong! I am an artist who loves to read, a reader who paints, and I work for Fairfax County Public Library. View all posts by p41nt34 →. Stone House, day 3 | readingandpainting

https://readingandpainting.wordpress.com/2013/04/04/stone-house-day-3

That's what I do! Today’s painting: Yellow Crane in Blue Bowl. New drawing: Tulips →. Stone House, day 3. April 4, 2013. The weather finally cooperated on Saturday, with conditions almost identical to the day in December when I last worked on this painting. I’ve been waiting and watching the weather, and I had to get out there when the light was right, it wasn’t too cold or windy, and before the tree leafed out! I guess I can make any further changes in my studio. View all posts by p41nt34 →.

copying at the National Gallery: June 2014

http://amyilenemann.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html

Copying at the National Gallery. June 17, 2014. The Cradle - Camille with the Artist's Son Jean". This is the painting I am copying now: "The Cradle - Camille with the Artist's Son Jean". Using the spreadsheet, I came up with a size of 38" x 29", which the local art supply store, Plaza, happily had in stock. So over the weekend I stretched the canvas, and finished the three coats of gesso and one coat of polymer matte medium (to seal the gesso) late last night. June 10, 2014. Now, on to the next one!

Copying at the National Gallery. April 30, 2015. Cézanne "Still Life with Apples and Peaches", day 9. I enjoyed talking to lots of visitors today. One of them told me she thought Cézanne would approve! Then she said, "Or maybe not! I thought that was pretty funny. Click the images for a larger view). April 21, 2015. But that's the fun, trying to get a match however I can. This skill translates to painting from life when I go out and work from the landscape or still life. Does it look any different? Not r...

Copying at the National Gallery. March 31, 2015. White Poodle, Day 12 (final? Today I made it back after several weeks away. This was my last Tuesday, because I've gotten a new job (a promotion! Copying at the National Gallery. December 16, 2014. White Poodle, day 5. Plugging along. I worked on fixing the dog's nose, which I thought was at slightly the wrong angle and a little too far to the left. I fiddled with the color and moved the nostrils to the right a little. copying at the National Gallery: "Little Girl" Day 2

http://amyilenemann.blogspot.com/2015/06/little-girl-day-2.html

Copying at the National Gallery. June 25, 2015. Little Girl" Day 2. Today I mainly used Prussian Blue and Phthalo Blue, with white. These are colors I rarely, if ever, use. They are just so strong. I've occasionally used Phthalo in a really blue sky on a beautiful sunny day. And they may just be a little too much for this painting. My impression of the blues in this painting were that they were So Bright! Here is how much I had done when I stopped for lunch:. Click on the images for a larger view.).

Copying at the National Gallery. June 4, 2015. Cézanne, "Still Life with Apples and Peaches", Day 12 (final). I knew today would be the last day on this painting. I just had a little bit to do. First thing, I tackled the pitcher, because it looked much too rosy in color. After about an hour, I was satisfied that I had gotten it more into the right color family. I'm looking forward to painting all that luscious blue fabric with its almost abstract-impressionist scribbled patterns. Stay tuned! Little Girl ...

Copying at the National Gallery. October 21, 2014. Cézanne, Day 7. Today in the morning I worked on the vertical side of the table on the right. I corrected some drawing errors in the shape of the table sides. At the end of the morning. Next week, I want to repaint the pitcher and work more on the left side of the cloth and the wall on the left. Then I think I will be done with this one! Copying at the National Gallery. February 27, 2015. White Poodle, day 11! Oh my goodness, it seems the more I do, the more I see that I have to do. Just plugged away at the fur today, but I can't say that I've improved it any. Hopefully, one of these days it will come together! Today I tried something different - I put my easel on the right, instead of the left! I plugged away on the fur, trying very hard to restrain myself and paint each tuft of fur individually. I soon realized that I'd been trying...

Copying at the National Gallery. March 11, 2014. The Lackawanna Valley, Day 5. inching along. I didn't go to copy last Tuesday, because the temperature in the morning was in the single digits, and snow and ice were still on the ground. What a difference a week makes! Today's temps climbed into the 60s, and it was a pleasure to walk to the Metro in the afternoon with my jacket off. Which is the whole point of why I am copying it. Ask your parents if they would protect you if you did something wrong. What do they think?
