Reading the District: March 2014

http://readingthedistrict.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html

Tuesday, March 25, 2014. 2014: The Year of the Job? Crazy that I'm doing this, but I felt like it's time to get back into the hang of talking about things, getting interested in what I'm doing, and also playing around with ideas to whomever sees them. And working up the chutzpah to talk to my boss about a raise. All of these things are happening at once, and they are nerve-wracking as hell. What did I know of teaching's austere and lonely offices? Here are some notes: over the past five years I've realiz...

Congrats on the new gig! June 30, 2011 at 5:20 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). My blog about the trials and wonders of teaching Reading in Washington, DC.

Wednesday, March 30, 2011. Fucking denied, man. I took an entire. Day off of school to go to OSSE to drop off my licensure packet that I slaved. Over for an entire year, and I just got a letter saying I was denied! All for one stupid thing: I didn't score high enough on my Praxis II Pedogogy test. Ugh! Now, I have to take the test again, fork over another 50 bucks for a processing fee, wait another five weeks for the scores again, get another. Transcript from my college and graduate school, get another.

Saturday, October 23, 2010. Thisreally is how our meetings go. How do I work the system? Either way, shit's really annoying.take a peek:. Tuesday, October 12, 2010. So, i understand. Do you have things in drawers, in files, in folders, strewn about on your desk? How do you all keep it together? I'm strapped for ideas, and I'm struggling to pull it all together. Reading the District: August 2010

http://readingthedistrict.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html

Sunday, August 29, 2010. The new year cometh, i mean the Jewish one. Fastly approaching is the Jewish New Year and Day of Return (atonement, as I learned at a workshop, is more of a Christian idea (no offense Christians, but it is) (maybe it's not return, but something like that). Anyhow, this means that there's gotta be some sort of reflection and such. As of last Sat.yikes! Saturday, August 21, 2010. Period. So, it's a Read 180 room! By the way, I don't remember if I'd mentioned this, but I had intervi...

Teaching English is not teaching just the language but the culture. Why? C) Access to continuing education: increas...
