Reading the good book. Preamble, or: a gentleman's excuse me. One could also see it as a doffing-of-the-cap to that grand master of footnotes, Terry Pratchett, so sadly missed. Did I just make that up? Sounds damn weird. Lover of tongues? Lastly, I consistently employed the late great Hitch's adage of "god is not Great" (go and read it, it's Great!
