Recycling my Retirement

The Journey Is Complete. May 9, 2011. My BFF, eos, made it home this morning. I feel that the Congratulations and Welcome Home are for both me and my bicycle. We made across the country together. I lost a little weight and she gained a little with all of the dirt and sand accumulated over the 2,800 miles. I’m taking her to the spa. I have added a link to Lisa Meerts-Brandsma’s last article in the Durango Herald on May 1, “What we kept after we threw out the dishwater.”. Looking in the Rear View Mirror.

Day 54, Perry to High Springs, 76 miles « Recycling my Retirement

https://recycleretire.wordpress.com/2011/04/26/day-54-perry-to-high-springs-76-miles

Day 54, Perry to High Springs, 76 miles. April 26, 2011. Once I again I’m reminded why I love living in Humboldt County. Today’s ride was hot and humid. My cycle computer read 102 degrees at one point this afternoon. We started in the morning under overcast skies. It kept the heat down, but we were riding on US 27 for the first 45 miles. I was somewhat cool, still sweating because of the humidity, and generally bored with riding a straight highway. What do you at the end of a long hot ride? This does not...

Day 52, Wait, Wait … Love that 3-Wood. April 24, 2011. My final rest day on the WomanTours southern tier cross-country tour. We’re outside Crawfordville at the Inn at Wildwood, which is next to a golf course. After a shower and lunch at the golf course cafe, I tucked myself away in my room to start catching up on nearly two months of Wait, Wait Don’t … Tell Me and try to figure out what to write in this rest day blog. This entry was posted in Southern Tier 2011. Day 51, Quincy to Crawfordville, 48 miles.

Day 53, Crawfordville to Perry, 54 miles. April 25, 2011. A few weeks ago our cue sheets were printed on both sides with right and left turns every few miles. On those days I felt like a rat riding a bicycle in a maze. The last couple of days our cue sheets have been incredibly simple. For example, today it directed us to turn left out of the motel, turn right at 52 miles, ride 1.6 more miles to the motel. Nothing much happened on the ride today. No dog chases, no dead armadillos, no revelations. You are...

Looking in the Rear View Mirror. May 8, 2011. Where have I been since returning from the WomanTours Southern Tier ride? The two-month journey seems like a warp in the time-space continuum; I remember it and I don’t. I remember the joys I felt at getting to the continental divide and cresting over Emory Pass, as well as the beauty of the ride to the Fire Fox Cabins. There are many vignettes – a slide show of memories – playing in mind. This entry was posted in Southern Tier 2011. 05/08/2011 at 9:00 pm.

Where dawn light brings clarity to your purpose. Laquo; How do you know when you are not influencing? Review of Stephen Few’s Books. March 29, 2012 by Eva. Staying on the topic of leadership and influencing others, do you need charisma to be an effective leader? My hardcover dictionary defines charisma as “A rare personal quality attributed to leaders who arouse fervent popular devotion and enthusiasm.” Does fervent popular devotion and enthusiasm produce results? I saw an article on the. In her book, Ca...

Recycle Restoration

Wednesday, November 28, 2012. This is my latest project. I have been working on this typewriter desk for the last few months. I found it at the Deseret Industries on 7th South in Salt Lake City. I was able to swindle this little desk away for $20. The thing I love about this desk is how mechanical it is. There are drawers, pull out tables, lift tops, and a drop down typewriter platform. Because of the way the platform slides down at a 45 degree angle when stored and pulled up level when in use there was ...

This is an idea blog of things I've tried to make or renew to decorate our yard and home. Tuesday, May 19, 2009. Down sizing. means lots of extras for me. Fabric. loads of it. I decluttered my own fabric and some of my mom's and gave it to a local dance studio to use for making costumes in future years. Especially good if they decided to go with a retro theme.
