Run Jilly Bean: Well hello there stranger!
http://runjillybean.blogspot.com/2015/09/well-hello-there-stranger.html
Tuesday, September 8, 2015. Well hello there stranger! I'm not even sure where the time has gone, but I sure think a lot has happened. The trick is what can I remember? The highlights since my last past so long ago:. I finally ran a marathon (Richmond 2014). My Dad kicked colon cancer in the booty. Still have an amazing little boy and husband. Still have awesome friends and extended family who support me in whatever I set my sites on. A job that I like most days, but challenges me every day. Dear Alyssa ...
Run Jilly Bean: So what happened to September
http://runjillybean.blogspot.com/2013/09/so-what-happened-to-september.html
Friday, September 27, 2013. So what happened to September. I hit a milestone . or just a number few want to admit to. 40. So you celebrate all weekend long with mimosas, chocolate and lots of friends. I had an awesome birthday celebration. And another milestone . 18 miles that is. How you spend the next day after 18 miles. And then work got crazy, and I did the best I could. That was one sad week. Thank goodness for modern medicine. So, I'm off to try 17 or 20 miles tomorrow morning, or whatever happens.
Run Jilly Bean: April 2013
http://runjillybean.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
Monday, April 29, 2013. Ive been a bad, bad blogger. I've had two recent great races and I haven't posted a single word other than through Twitter. I wish I had a better excuse, but back to back race weekends, crazy work deadlines, being a mom/wife, and then Boston happened. I just didn't feel like a blogging for a while. I'm going to try to do a quick rewind and catch up in the next couple of days. So please be patient with me. Sunday, April 7, 2013. So, better late than never. Do I look ready? I did ma...
Run Jilly Bean: August 2013
http://runjillybean.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html
Sunday, August 25, 2013. Marathon Training - Week 12. The laziest blog post ever. Yep, that's all I did last week to mark the halfway point of this adventure. I was recovering from being on vacation for a week (where I got minimal rest) and work was hell all week. I continue to follow the Run Less, Run Faster plan and some of these paces are tough. But this should make the marathon easier, right? Someone please say yes! It started out a little scary. That's my crazy kid sucking down my. Peanut butter cho...
Run Jilly Bean: May 2013
http://runjillybean.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
Friday, May 31, 2013. What not to do before you run a half marathon! Accessory to the crime. Just look how dirty that thing is. Screams criminal. How can I be such a klutz? I got through a long spring racing season with minimal ITB issues, no colds or illnesses, otherwise all healthy. That is until three days before my last race before the Fall. Oh well, at least I keep things interesting. And because I am a nerd, just how many times will toe hit the ground over the course of a half marathon? So it's tap...

Run Eat Play RVA: February 2015
http://www.runeatplayrva.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Tuesday, February 17, 2015. Scenes from a Snow Run. We got around 6" of snow overnight in Richmond. This is not a usual occurrence for us; I'm sure you can imagine the mad rush to obtain toilet paper, milk, and bread that happened yesterday before the flakes started to fly. There's no better incentive than that, let me tell you. Needles to say, I got my work finished and then thoroughly enjoyed my reward. Monday, February 16, 2015. I'm not running races just to run them, or because someone else is. Someo...
Run Eat Play RVA: March 2015

Thursday, March 26, 2015. I Qualified for Boston at the Shamrock Marathon! Just over a month ago, I came back from a long silence and told you all that I was focusing on quality over quantity. and that I wasn't going to run a spring marathon. Well, here's the full confession: when I wrote that entry on February 16, I was already considering attempting to qualify for Boston at the Shamrock Marathon in Virginia Beach on March 22. That was the plan, at least. Then I started asking myself - why wait? And the...
Run Eat Play RVA: July 2015

Wednesday, July 1, 2015. Kathryn here for what has apparently become my typical quarterly check in. Honestly, I really miss blogging and hope I can kick start myself into it again. When you have a very demanding day job that is writing based, it is hard to come home and get excited about writing some more. So, what am I up to? What a silly question! I'm training for a marathon, of course. To be more specific, the Erie Marathon. Despite that and the less than desirable weather, I think I'm making some rea...
Run Eat Play RVA: The Agony and the Ecstasy
http://www.runeatplayrva.com/2014/11/the-agony-and-ecstacy_4.html
Tuesday, November 4, 2014. The Agony and the Ecstasy. Running is such a temperamental mistress. One week, it takes you to the heights of happiness and then, when you weren’t expecting it, BAM! Plunged into the depths of despair. Right now I should be basking in the afterglow of a mission accomplished at Steamtown and coasting my way to a fun-filled Richmond Marathon, where I planned to just have a good time running with my teammates and enjoying the beautiful course and city that I love. Cue panicked ici...

Run Eat Play RVA: RVA Represent
http://www.runeatplayrva.com/p/rva-represent.html
When I say "Richmond" what is the first thing that comes to mind? Here's what I usually hear: Confederates, cigarettes, and "doesn't I-95 run right through it? Not exactly the most flattering picture. But I'm here to tell you that yes, Richmond may be the home of the biggest cigarette company in the world and the former capital of the Confederacy, but it's so much more than that! These are some of my favorite Richmond things. Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. March 5, 2012 at 10:07 AM. I can do hard things.
Run Eat Play RVA: Becoming a Runner

Then came January 2010 when I challenged my husband to a race - the Ukrop's Monument Avenue 10k. I wanted to get him exercising more and thought that some friendly competition would be the perfect way to do it. After all, what man would want to admit that his wife beat him in sporting competition? We joined the training group at the local YMCA. I'll never forget the first time I managed to run 3 miles at the track without stopping. It hurt, but it was amazing at the same time. Marine Corps 10k, 2010.

Friday, November 14, 2014. My 2 Cents, For What They're Worth. You've read Kit's play-by-play for tomorrow and I'm here to tell you that it's all true. You'll be like a kid on Christmas morning and wake up at 4 am. It will take forever for the start to happen. The first ten miles. Now, take all of that and file it away. Don't think about it again until you are in the moment tomorrow. To just run, you need to do a few things. Sounds oxymoronic, I know. But hear me out. I know you've heard this already abo...
Girls Run the 901: These are a few of my favorite things...
http://www.girlsrunthe901.com/2014/12/these-are-few-of-my-favorite-things.html
A little about me. Wednesday, December 3, 2014. These are a few of my favorite things. Since it is Christmas shopping season, I though I would share with you some things that I have come to love and things that I am secretly wishing for this year:. I am loving this 'Forward is a Pace' tee from Fellow Flowers. This plush tech hoodie from Athleta. I honestly love my RunningLuv. Not only because it was created by a very dear friend but I find it so useful on cold runs and hot ones. Taking the Long Way Home.

Friday, September 25, 2015. I can do hard things. It's been a bit of a crazy week. My city is hosting the UCI World Road Cycling Championship. Very cool to have this surrounding us when the last time the US hosted this event was in 1986. Cycling mania is in full effect. Since I am the only parent this week, I have been sneaking workouts in between school drop-off/pick-up and conference calls. I have also been working on my #BOSUstrong challenges. For my crazy attempts. I thought the run went well, but th...
