Running Renaissance: Don't Be Afraid to Run Naked (At the Wrist, That Is)
http://runningrenaissance.blogspot.com/2014/03/dont-be-afraid-to-run-naked-at-wrist.html
Saturday, March 8, 2014. Don't Be Afraid to Run Naked (At the Wrist, That Is). At my day job, covering technology, there’s a lot of talk about fitness apps and fitness gadgets and wearable tech and, in the context of healthcare, the quantified self. (Full disclosure: I contributed to the hype by creating a list of tech for the athletes on your Christmas list. To further prove I am a sellout, I made it a slideshow, too.). Every once in a while, though, it pays to unplug. On an easy day, the watch stay...

Mark 262: El Scorcho 50K Recap
http://www.mark262.com/2014/07/el-scorcho-50k-recap.html
Monday, July 21, 2014. El Scorcho 50K Recap. Lived up to everything that it had to offer… anticipation, training challenges, fear, doubt, FUN. Heat, relief, and elation. There are so many other words to describe this race, but you have to do the 50K at least once. CHECK… I’m good! It was great to see Chris run his farthest distance of 25K while tackling El Scorcho. The pride was all over his face as he finished! GLOW IN THE DARK RACE SHIRTS. Above is my Strava. Details of the race. It shows 30.7 ...The f...

Running Renaissance: 13 Things Smart Runners Do
http://runningrenaissance.blogspot.com/2014/08/13-things-smart-runners-do.html
Tuesday, August 19, 2014. 13 Things Smart Runners Do. In the midst of the Heartbreak Hill Half. As I plodded up another hill and did my best to keep the wheels from falling off, I got to thinking that running three races in 26 hours may not have been the smartest thing I’ve ever done. That, in turn, got me thinking about something else: What exactly do smart runners do? Wear the right shoes. And your body will thank you later. Check the weather, but don't obsess over it. Certain workouts are worth postpo...

Running Renaissance: Looking Back on My First Marathon
http://runningrenaissance.blogspot.com/2013/09/looking-back-on-my-first-marathon.html
Tuesday, September 10, 2013. Looking Back on My First Marathon. With my ninth marathon, Smuttynose Rockfest. Rapidly approaching, and with many preparing to embark on fall marathon adventures, I thought I’d partake in an equally humorous and cathartic exercise and relive the calamity of my first marathon. I was a 21-year-old college junior when I toed the line at the BayState Marathon. I’m pretty sure I just guessed.). I crossed in 3:22 and change, collapsed on the ground, napped on the futon at my paren...

Mark 262: Cowtown Ultra Recap
http://www.mark262.com/2013/02/cowtown-ultra-recap.html
Tuesday, February 26, 2013. Running the 50K at Cowtown was everything that I thought it would be – challenging physically and mentally… and FUN! YES, it was fun. I’ve learned that anything challenging is only as fun as you make it! This was my first race that I ran with someone else, thanks Hamlin! It was great running with Hamlin and other Frisco Running Club. So happy for you, Cruz! The other thing that I did before the race was to write on my left arm. I’ve done this before just remind mysel...At one ...

Mark 262: Marathons are Addictive! @OKCMarathon
http://www.mark262.com/2014/04/marathons-are-addictive-okcmarathon.html
Wednesday, April 9, 2014. I’ve been enjoying the last couple of weeks as my running has become more natural after being laid off from running for 5 weeks. I’ve only been training for the last 6 weeks, but feel that I can knock out a marathon before the summer months. I know that it won’t be an optimal race, but I’m really itching for a big race. I’ve signed up for the Oklahoma City Marathon. Looking forward to my 13th marathon experience up in Oklahoma in two and a half weeks. My Social Network Pages.

Mark 262: You will want to stop. Don’t.
http://www.mark262.com/2013/04/you-will-want-to-stop-dont.html
Monday, April 1, 2013. You will want to stop. Don’t. The last couple of weeks, I’ve been doing hill training at a pretty daunting hill. It’s a crazy sucker. For the locals, it’s the Windhaven hill west of Midway on the border of Plano and The Colony. I’ve been meeting a group of runner friends from the North Texas Runners. The first week I started at 5 repeats and then each week I’ll be adding 1 more repeat until I get to 10 for the Cleveland Marathon. It simply says, “You will want to stop. Do...I also ...
