A Case of the Runs: April 2012
http://caseoftheruns.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Sunday, April 15, 2012. So today, I'm here to give some more advice for any mother that may be wondering if they, too, can run while nursing. (Okay, not exactly WHILE nursing, as in "at the same time as." I've never actually tried to nurse my son at the same time as I ran. But you know what I mean.). 1 Listen to your body. 2 Fuel up and hydrate wisely. And sleep when you can. 3 Plan ahead and enlist a supportive helper. 4 Be patient and optimistic. Necessary. Every new mother book says it- you can't ...

A Case of the Runs: 3-Day Half-Marathon Training Plan
http://caseoftheruns.blogspot.com/2012/05/3-day-half-marathon-training-plan.html
Friday, May 4, 2012. 3-Day Half-Marathon Training Plan. In preparing to prepare (that's right, I'm a planner.deal with it! For training for my spring half-marathon ( Kentucky Derby Festival Mini-Marathon. I replaced the tempo runs with hill repeat sessions. These workouts, while different, produce some similar benefits. I enjoyed the sessions with the Swag's group on Tuesday nights, and I wasn't prepared to give those up. I stayed pretty much right on plan. I was determined to not miss any workouts (...

A Case of the Runs: Otter Creek 8 (9) Miler - December 17, 2011
http://caseoftheruns.blogspot.com/2011/12/otter-creek-8-9-miler-december-17-2011.html
Sunday, December 18, 2011. Otter Creek 8 (9) Miler - December 17, 2011. For the brief version, scroll to the bottom! After completing 24 road races in the last three years, I could tell at this moment that THIS race was going to be different. The people were different, the vibe was different. I wanted to jump up and down because I could FEEL the difference and I loved it. Despite having such warm and tingly feelings, I was noticing the silence of my Garmin (where WAS that mile alert, anyway? Here was als...

A Case of the Runs: May 2013
http://caseoftheruns.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
Saturday, May 11, 2013. 2013 Cherokee 5 Miler. For the last several weeks leading up to this race, I knew I wouldn't be in the same condition I was last year, so my expectations were realistic concerning my performance. I tried to make myself feel better about this by planning to run this as any other long run—take it easy and just enjoy my time out there. However, there is a nagging little competitive side to me that always takes over when the horn/whistle blows. And then a couple more. I was totally sp...

A Case of the Runs: 2012 KDF Mini-Marathon Race Report
http://caseoftheruns.blogspot.com/2012/05/2012-kdf-mini-marathon-race-report.html
Wednesday, May 2, 2012. 2012 KDF Mini-Marathon Race Report. This year’s KDF Mini-Marathon was by far the most fun for me! The morning of the race, however, was not quite as fun. Have I mentioned that I love being a Mom? Have I also mentioned that being a Mom creates all sorts of…let’s call them obstacles. 8230;to my normal routine for preparing to run—especially for long runs and races? Of course, I do not get enough sleep. On average, I’m getting about 4 hours of interrupted. Than planned. WHAT? 3) If, ...

Slow Runnings: March 2009
http://slowrunnings.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html
The diary of a part-time runner. Tuesday, March 31, 2009. 10 Miles, Unplugged. Last night I ran home from work. The back-roads route from my office to my house is about 10 miles. This was mostly on-road running, so I turned my iPod off. For my own safety. BB unplugged! 10 miles.no music.massive hills. I was just waiting for the bonk. But the bonk NEVER CAME. Dare I say, the run was easier without music? Maybe it was because I could focus completely on my stride and breathing. Here's where things get weird.

One Man Running: April 2015
http://onemanrunning.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Right not Wrong (A Guest Blog Post). Being transgendered is not the same as being gay. Being gay is about the gender your attracted to, transgender is the gender you identify yourself with. Gay and lesbian people do not want to be a different gender. They are just attracted to the same sex. A copy of Leelah's suicide note. Like Leelah's mom says, "god doesn't make mistakes," she was only partly right in that sentence. I dont believe god makes mistakes. I believe that he sent us transgenders to ch...No We...

One Man Running: December 2012
http://onemanrunning.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
Wall Art or Doomsday Clock? According to popular media today was suppose to be the much heralded "end of the world." At least that was the speculation based upon a terminal date on some ancient Mayan calendar. It was also the beginning of the One Man's long over-due and much needed vacation. What better way to say to hell with work than bugging out on Doomsday? Sunrise on the East Coast. Looking pretty good to me while I'm driving. An afternoon moon and no global destruction to be had anywhere. One thing...

One Man Running: The Perfect Day
http://onemanrunning.blogspot.com/2012/11/the-perfect-day.html
Have you ever had one of those days where everything went perfectly? I mean absolutely perfect. Everything falls right into place, your timing is impeccable, and every plan that you've laid out goes off without a snag? One of those days where nothing could possibly seem to go wrong. Everyone loves you; thinks you're the best thing since sliced bread. You are the man! Yeah, me neither. Said in one of her blog posts, "If you hang around on Facebook long enough, you may want to slit your wrists. It seem...
