A new adventure in India.this time with a business twist. Monday, January 29, 2007. The King built the palace as a tribute to his second wife after she died giving birth to his 14th child. He meant to build an identical black Taj Mahal across the river, but his son imprisoned him before he could realize that goal. You can see the foundation from the back of the Taj. Friday, July 14, 2006. Email update from July 5. But one bright red light was shining directly on a small rock shaped exactly like a penis. I must admit, one of the irritating things about my experience here is that my coworkers only speak in Vietnamese. On the other hand, however, they've recently been really generous to me and have invited me to join them on numerous social occasions. Posted by Laura @ 2:55 AM. View my complete profile. The second day of the Haiphong trip.

It is a hill station built by the French near the top of a mountain that towers alone over the rice paddies. Its major attraction is the climate (I was actually too cold! So, do I recommend Tom Dao to other travelers? No Am I glad I went? Posted by Laura @ 5:33 AM. Friday, July 14, 2006. Email update from July 5.

Summer in Vietnam: Saigon, the Mekong, Hoi An
http://lauracobb.blogspot.com/2006/08/saigon-mekong-hoi.html
Wednesday, August 16, 2006. Saigon, the Mekong, Hoi An. Since I last wrote, I have been in Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta. Next, we headed north to Hoi An, a pretty old town with 200 year old architecture and more tailor shops than you can count. It felt like a place just for tourists, but it was small and quiet and near a beach. Given the enormously hot weather, this was essential. This was our longest stop, we stayed for four nights. Wednesday, June 28, 2006. And unfortunately, while I am taking Vietnamese, it is one tough language. Tones are a whole new thing for me and pronunciation is pretty difficult too. And the Vietnamese are like the French, very unforgiving about their language. Three lessons into it and I’ve barely learned how to say My name is Laura. What is your name? Posted by Laura @ 7:09 AM. A new adventure in India.this time with a business twist. Tuesday, September 05, 2006. Summer's Gone. . . My blog ended somewhat unexpectedly and I honestly doubt anyone (besides Jeni) is actually reading this anymore; however, I didn't want to leave my faithful readers hanging. I left Ghana on August 10th after a crazy weekend of visiting the sacred crocodiles and doing some major shopping. Here are some final pictures for your enjoyment. Wahab and I posing with the sacred crocodile. The filters before ...

A new adventure in India.this time with a business twist. Friday, June 30, 2006. Every morning I am greeted by about 7 children under the age of 4 that live just outside my guesthouse. I originally thought of them as a choir, but upon further encounters with the children I’ve decided to call them the Hello Brigade. Upon spotting my terribly white skin exiting or returning to the guesthouse they proceed to yell, Hello! Than, hello, just to give you an idea. Can’t you learn to lift the seat? My neighbor le...
