How to Cover Live Events: Create an Experience. Whenever I’m trying to figure out a new way to tell a story, there’s a quote from one of the inventors of virtual reality that always pops into my brain: “ Information is alienated experience. 8221; Or, like my middle school English teacher used to say, “Show, don’t tell.”. For these types of stories you should consider:. Streaming video via UStream. Capturing/publishing audio via SoundCloud. Publishing full or editing video on YouTube. Make a Twitter list.
N.C. Journalism – Future of News

Category: N.C. Journalism. Survey: Is N.C’s Born-Digital News Legacy Being Sent Down the Memory Hole? Just over 15 years ago the first big news story I worked on also turned out to be the first big news story of the digital news era. The Clinton-Lewinsky scandal broke online, with the first and biggest stories of the 13-month saga posted online before they went into print. And it wasn’t just news stories — as Monica Lewinsky pointed out in her fascinating TED Talk. Don’t believe me? But what’s more...
Daily Filter – Future of News

I’m just going to skip right over yesterday’s tweets, live blogs, streaming videos and Flickr channels of Facebook’s location feature. I opened the filter a bit wider to let in a wider variety of sources, but Mashable and PBS/Knight/IdeaLab/MediaShift still go the most headlines through the filter. And speaking of filters …. A Few Random Thoughts: January 2011

A Few Random Thoughts. Saturday, January 29, 2011. The nice thing about family visiting is we also get a chance to explore more of Kentucky. It's been a month since David's family visited us for the New Year, so I've been a bit lax in posting some of things we enjoyed during their visit. One day, we visited the Acres of Land Winery. In Richmond and ate lunch. It was delicious, and they have a nice selection of wines and scrumptious entrees on the menu. The Bourbon is stored in barrels until it's ready.

A Few Random Thoughts: August 2010
http://allydevito.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
A Few Random Thoughts. Friday, August 13, 2010. In the spirit of summer and shrimp, we recently cooked a shrimp boil feast with Old Bay Seasoning. It was quite good, and we had plenty of leftovers. The recipe below says to use uncooked and unpeeled shrimp, which we did, but I hate peeling shrimp, so for the leftover version, David peeled all the cooked shrimp (bless him), and I added a few more unpeeled ones we bought. Both versions were quite delicious. Recipe from Old Bay's web site. In Berea, Kentucky...
