Zondag 14 juni 2015. Visiting Waterloo, 2015. I don't live that far away from the battlefield of Waterloo, and to avoid the extreme stir that the memorial weekend will bring, I made my visit on 6th june this year. There is a new museum, just opened a few weeks ago. It is well worth visiting. You can have a sort of ipod with a clear explanation in most languages. The second part of the museum is a large display of uniforms from all armies, as you can see from the pictures. British troops and command.

Donderdag 30 januari 2014. Chaeronea 2013 - Set up. Exactly one month after my last message, finaly a new update on my blog. We played the Chaeronea scenario the weekend in between Christmas and new year with lots of tiny metal toys. four players took the role of the generals, while I was umpireing the game, for as far as nessesary. We used the largest table in our clubhouse, but unfortunately, lighting was not that good. I took lots of pictures, but some were so bad, I erased them. Next time: The battle.

Zondag 16 augustus 2015. A few pictures of recently painted miniatures. As the title says, here are a few pictures of freshly painted miniatures. I painted my first Napoleonic cavalry unit ever, the Dutch 6th Hussars. Lots of detail on these, so it took lots of time to paint them. Following our Black Powder scale, this is a standard 12 fig unit, plus one casualty base. All are Perry Miniatures, as are all my Napoleonics. As usual, all pictures can be expanded by simply clicking on them. Don't throw a 1.

Maandag 29 december 2014. Probably my last posting for 2014. I'm still trying to paint as much as possible before the year is gone. But I am a bit struggling with it for some time now. My discipline is waining, I guess. Am I getting into a painting block? Still so much to do. But I did manage to paint a few figures since last time! First are the last of my psiloi, more then I will ever need (I think). A unit of Greek peltasts. Yes, more Lucid Eye miniatures from Steve! In fact, I bought them together wit...

Zaterdag 25 april 2015. Backlog, part II. I'm back again, with more pictures of painted miniatures. These were only recently painted. All are Perry Miniatures. First pictures are the Orange-Nassau regiment, consisting of two battalions. The first battalion is considered "large" in Black Powder terms, the second battalion is standard sized. In real life the batalions had 893 (1st) and 688 (2nd) men before any fighting started. And naturally also two casualty markers. Dinsdag 21 april 2015. Backlog, part I.

Maandag 21 april 2014. First Napoleonic brigade, ready for action! As you know by now, most of my armies are 28mm for the anient or medieval period. But I am also slowly building a Napoleonic allied army for 1815. I painted two units earlier this year, and now my first brigade is ready. The first unit is the 5th Dutch militia, a standard 24 fig unit. (our standard Black Powder unit). The second is the famous Belgian 7th line regiment, a large 36 fig unit. But here is how it looks now:. I've visited the s...

Zondag 4 januari 2015. Happy new year to you all! Again a year has come and gone. Painting wise it was a very good one for me, painted 265 figures, all 28mm. Gaming was a bit less. I started 2015 with a loss in my first game of the year. Warhammer Fantasy Battle, 5th ed. yes, we are playing those again, almost 20 years old. Again too much to get done in a year. But probably start painting 15mm again! Now that is something I haven't done in years., But I have so many. Abonneren op: Berichten (Atom). The P...

Woensdag 18 juni 2014. I finished one more small unit. As I'm very much interested in Greek history, and at a lesser level in fantasy, here is something in between:. These are from the recent (? One or two years old) range of Foundry. They paint up very quickly, even for me. And I am a slow painter. The decals I used are left overs from my Greek hoplites. I think they look good, if I may say that from my own painting. Next update of the blog will probably be mid july. Maandag 16 juni 2014. Don't throw a 1.

Dinsdag 28 oktober 2014. Selling some old Collector stuff. As some of my friends know, I've been a wargamer for well over 30 years. And as most wargamers, I have collected a huge pile of wargaming stuff. While checking what I have lying around for years, I bumped into a hidden treasure. Two boxes of 15mm Citadel Traveller miniatures. Each contains 20 figures, extremely well sculpted for the age they have! Being early 80's something, and being boxed for the most time of their life, the poor boys. I have n...
