Marianne and Mrs. B's 3/4 Classroom. Using the flimsiest materials, learners built structures with marshmallows and toothpicks. They experimented with squares and triangle and built simple pyramids and tetrahedrons to see which would be most structurally sound. Draw Bridges | Marianne and Mrs. B's 3/4 Classroom
https://mpdanskschool.wordpress.com/2015/04/14/draw-bridges
Marianne and Mrs. B's 3/4 Classroom. How do you build a bridge that will allow boats or trucks to pass underneath, without damage to either the bridge or boat/truck. That’s the challenge, given just strips of paper and blocks. Learners tried various configurations and later watched a collection of photos of different drawbridges – some lift, some twist and lift, some lift from both sides, some turn 90 degrees without lifting, some lift vertically. Marianne and Mrs. B's 3/4 Classroom. We were lucky to enjoy a visit from Joy Cheung (son, Kyle Ho, in Heidi’s class) who works as a civil engineer for Caltrans. She told us about some of the construction projects she has worked on and showed us pictures of the new section of the Bay Bridge under construction. She also brought wooden pieces to help our class construct an arch bridge. It was strong enough to support learner’s weight. April 14, 2015. Beam Bridges ». Leave a Reply Cancel reply.
