Notes from ecology, biogeography and evolution by Florian Hartig. Back from Bayes IV. September 24, 2014. Group photo of the Bayes summer school at Lygra, Norway. As announced a while ago. We had moved our now already traditional summer school in Bayesian Statistics. And the group was fantastic as well, thank you guys! Below a few twitter photos and some nerdy tweets from #lygrabayes. 8211; Paul’s suggestion. To establish #bayesjokes has been noted😉. Mdash; Béatrice Wedeux (@beawedeux) September 20, 2014.

A simple explanation of rejection sampling in R | theoretical ecology
https://theoreticalecology.wordpress.com/2015/04/22/a-simple-explanation-of-rejection-sampling-in-r
Notes from ecology, biogeography and evolution by Florian Hartig. A simple explanation of rejection sampling in R. April 22, 2015. The central quantity in Bayesian inference, the posterior, can usually not be calculated analytically, but needs to be estimated by numerical integration, which is typically done with a Monte-Carlo algorithm. The three main algorithm classes for doing so are. Markov-Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) sampling. Sequential Monte Carlo (SMC) sampling. 1 draw random value from the prior.

The time I kill is killing me. (Mason Cooley). Vineri, 19 aprilie 2013. Mai jos povestea nașterii Khan Academy. Dincolo de poveste în sine mai sunt câteva „detalii” în discursul vorbitorului care pot ajuta la a pune întrebări sau a da unele răspunsuri despre educație. Links to this post. The time I kill is killing me. (Mason Cooley). Vineri, 14 iunie 2013. Algoritm de la M.I.T. - Computer Program Reveals Invisible Motion in Video. Links to this post. Visualizing evolutionary dynamics with ggmuller – These few lines
https://thesefewlines.wordpress.com/2016/08/20/how-to-ggmuller
Evolution, ecology and cancer. Visualizing evolutionary dynamics with ggmuller. A how-to guide for making beautiful plots of your data. Readers of experimental evolution studies by Richard Lenski, Jeffrey Barrick and others, or of cancer evolution reviews, will have seen stacked area plots that combine information about frequency dynamics and phylogeny. The example below is from a recent preprint. Such diagrams are sometimes termed Muller plots in honour of Hermann Joseph Muller (of ratchet. Encouraged b...

Notes from ecology, biogeography and evolution by Florian Hartig. 3-year PostDoc Position on Connecting Forest Models, Data and Diversity Effects in Freiburg. November 19, 2014. NOTE: the position has been filled! We still seek applicants for a 3-yr PostDoc project that combines process-based forest models, Bayesian parameter estimation and ecologically the question of what processes cause diversity effects in temperate forests. A pdf with details of the call can be downloaded here. November 19, 2014.

I’m a mathematical biologist in Montpellier, France, applying evolutionary and ecological theory and models to better understand cancer, as detailed in my academic profile. The blog name is inspired by a quote from the penultimate paragraph of Darwin’s. On the origin of species. The Box-Einstein surface of mathematical models. November 20, 2016.
