Professional editor amateur sewist. Skip to primary content. Civil war diary quilt: 15, 35, 71. January 18, 2012. After much anticipation, my Civil War Diary Quilt. Book has arrived. Right now I’m staring at a block called “Abomination of Desolation.” The names are just fantastic, aren’t they? This block is just a 16-patch with a diagonal pattern. I’m hoping to use as many different color combinations as I can from the Robert Kaufmann Pure Organic collection. 71 the longest morning. I knew that if I knoc...

Professional editor amateur sewist. Skip to primary content. January 20, 2012. I took this photo on the balcony of my apartment on Monday. I have a fantastic view of the sunset, so you’ll probably see your fair share of sunset shots from this vantage point. This is just as the sun was disappearing over the horizon, and the clouds reflect the fading sunlight beautifully. This entry was posted in Flickr Friday. One thought on “ flickr friday. Professional editor amateur sewist. Skip to primary content. The civil war diary quilt. January 14, 2012. I’d been planning on a new quilt using just solids, which I’ve been wanting to do since about a year ago, when I made this quilt. I’d been wanting to do an all organic quilt for a while, too. I’ve noticed a lot of fabric designers who just do organics: Daisy Janie. Just to name a few. Beautiful designs, but nothing grabbed me. About the Civil War Diary Quilt. Book: The Brightest and Happiest Place of...

Professional editor amateur sewist. Skip to primary content. Christmas roundup part two: Dad’s hat. January 9, 2012. I’m deep in planning mode for a new project using solids. But right now, it’s just a mess of scribbles and stacks of fabric. So Christmas present number two is the hat I made for my dad. I tried with all my might and spent hours working on this Crochet Seaman’s Hat. But it was taking. So I ended up with this super easy and fast one. That looks super cozy. And a new project. Thrifty Quilter: April 2010

http://thriftyquilter.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html

Wednesday, April 28. I literally spent every moment I was at home the past few days working on the Happy Campers quilt. It got to the point where I wasn't very happy with it at all. The quilting looks sloppy in many places — it's amazingly difficult to sew a straight line using a darning foot with your feed dogs down. The thread tension is messed up in so. And somehow the binding wound up being too big. I made do, but it still looks a little funky to me. Sunday, April 25. Birthday presents and a question.

Monday, January 31. Rather than lay out the 80 double hourglass blocks. That have been patiently waiting on my table for a week, Ive decided to embark on two new. Tuesday, November 16. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I love how portable it is, and I love the fact that I can both be productive and spend the day on the couch watching TV. To make my handiwork a bit more. Portable, I made this little needle book. I'd been wanting to make one for a while. At the November Austin Modern Quilt Guild. Meeting, I saw one that our secretary, Mitzi, had made, and I knew I had to make one for myself! How cute is that? Sticks in there pretty well, too. Hey y'all, I'...

Thrifty Quilter: August 2010

http://thriftyquilter.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html

Tuesday, August 31. So for some reason it seems that when I commit to Amy's One Thing, One Week Challenge. I tend to flake out. I know Amy isn't trying to make anyone feel guilty for not meeting their goal, and I don't really feel guilty. I had an awesome week — I just didn't get any sewing done. (To quote Jaybird. S last post: "as often happens. plans end up just plans. and life happens.". My goal was to finish the top of the Garden Windows quilt. So I busted out the graph paper, made a quick sketch, di...

Thrifty Quilter: September 2010

http://thriftyquilter.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html

Saturday, September 11. Impulse shopping leads to impulse sewing. I was naughty toward the end of August. I had already overspent on fabric, but when a Botany. Jelly roll showed up as the Quilter's Daily Deal. For only $22 plus $5 flat-rate shipping, I really just had to have it. I couldn't really afford it, but it was a really good deal. I took inspiration (and some basic construction info) from this Moda Bake Shop tutorial. And this doll quilt on Flickr. So I played some more and wound up with this:.

Monday, May 24. Blogger's Quilt Festival: Whirlygigs! I'm back after a long (almost two weeks! Absence. I've been trucking away on my Whirlygigs. I finished the quilting during the Friday Night Sew-In. But didn't post Saturday, because I wanted to show the finished product, so here it is! This is my quilt for Amy's Blogger's Quilt Festival. This quilt is special to me because I made it just for me. I also learned that straight-line quilting is sooooo. Much quicker and less stressful! I used a programmed ...

6 Human Body Questions I Asked When I Was a Kid. 1 Why do our fingernails grow faster than our toenails? 2 Why do old men grow hairs in their ears and nose? This is due to the hormone dihydrotesterone. This hormone usually leads to thinning and loss of the scalp hair and at the same time leads the vellus hair in the ears and nose to grow longer and coarser. 3 Why do we have underarm hair? 4Why do we cry? 5Why do men have nipples? Skip to main content. Skip to secondary content. May 21, 2013. I’m not even sure how to start this. I grew up in Oklahoma, way out in the country, on ten acres of land. We had chickens. We could walk and walk and build forts and forget where they were and build more the next day. We were so lucky. We felt it. Danger. If we were dogs, the hairs on the backs of our necks would have stood up. I’m pretty sure the hairs on the back of my neck stood up anyway. I’LL BE BETTER AT FORGIVENESS. I have no idea.

Chasin' Mason

Tuesday, January 20, 2015. Happy Birthday, Little Oliver. Tomorrow, my precious baby turns one year old. Last year at this time, I was as big as a house and so anxious to meet him, yet so nervous and scared at the same time. Was I ready to be a mom of two? Could I possibly love another child as much as I love Mason? Happy birthday, Oliver. Remembering your first year here in this crazy world will always, always, make me smile. Scrambled Megs … with a side of chaos. Wednesday, Jul 8 2009. The best part about this vacation has been the down time. While it has had its boring moments, it’s been nice to read (and read. and read.) and lay around absorbing awful TV. (The TV here is truly awful, by the way.). Seeing my puppy would be really nice, too. Sunday, Apr 26 2009. I’ve been trying not to think about it. Scrambled Megs n Toast. Urbi Et Orbi 2013. December 25, 2013. Glory to God in the highest heaven,. And on earth peace among those whom he favours (Lk 2:14). Dear brothers and sisters in Rome and throughout the world, Happy Christmas! I take up the song of the angels who appeared to the shepherds in Bethlehem on the night when Jesus was born.
