http://www.shequiltsit.com/2015_12_01_archive.html
Mixed media art quilt techniques and ramblings. Tuesday, December 29, 2015. Art quilt "Holiday Cheer". Now that most of my quilting friends know that I am making a series of fiber art nest quilts, they bring me all kinds of things that they would normally throw away. This quilt started with some scraps that were green and red that one of those friends had given me. I made the sketch quite a while ago, and decided to get the quilt going right before Christmas. Material for the top background. I should hav...

Mixed media art quilt techniques and ramblings. Tuesday, April 26, 2016. Carrying Bag for Art Quilts. An art quilt group that I joined requires an identifying carrying bag for each quilt that travels to their shows. One of the members told me that she makes hers out of rip stop nylon and I thought that was such a great idea! Rip Stop Nylon Bag for Art Quilts. The measurements and instructions are for rolling your art quilt around a 4" diameter swimming noodle. 1-1/4 yards 1" wide ribbon. Find the center ...

Mixed media art quilt techniques and ramblings. Monday, March 28, 2016. 25% recycled Green Quilt, Part #1. This quilt challenge is right up my alley! The theme is "It's Not Easy Being Green". 25% of the front of the quilt has to be recycled or re-purposed fibers. Here are a couple of my pictures I used as inspiration and my sketches. I gathered up some materials shown here. I hand dyed and painted a lot of used color catchers that I've been saving for "that perfect project". Monday, March 21, 2016. I bel...
She Quilts It: Contemporary Quilt #1
http://www.shequiltsit.com/2016/12/contemporary-quilt-1.html
Mixed media art quilt techniques and ramblings. Monday, December 5, 2016. I've made my first contemporary quilt based on the techniques I learned in Nancy Crow's class. I have added a few other tips that I'll show you in this post. Strip set at the top. The gaudy quilt top that I tore apart. While watching TV one night, I quickly sketched up 30 designs that could utilize these strips. This is quilt #1 from my ideas and it uses only the strips from that huge piece. Some of the sketches. You can cut your q...

On Going Projects: January 2017
https://terryknott.blogspot.com/2017_01_01_archive.html
A blog about my quilting journey! Sunday, January 29, 2017. A Super Fun Day! Our guild supports an event called Saturday Workshops. It is the one day of the year that the members teach other members. The teachers volunteer their time. The cost of the class defrays the rental cost of the building and the kit fee covers the teacher's cost. Workshop day was yesterday. In this post, I'm sharing photos of the classes that were held in the morning. Unfortunately, I didn't get out my camera and snap photos!

https://terryknott.blogspot.com/2015/07/special-request.html
A blog about my quilting journey! Monday, July 13, 2015. March 30,2015 my dad asked me to make him a quilt for his 80th birthday which was April 9. My dad is a two time survivor of kidney and bladder cancer. He has COPD and a heart ailment. His request HAD to be honored. So, I walked into the studio to figure out some fabric and my eye lit on those sawtooth stars. Then, I had this thought. . .why not have 80 stars for 80 years? Course, that means that I needed to make twice as many more! Dad asked to hav...

Have I used the stitches? Not often. I did stitch this:. I talked about it here. I'm excited though because it is going ...

On Going Projects: Blueberry Lime Finish
https://terryknott.blogspot.com/2015/08/blueberry-lime-finish.html
A blog about my quilting journey! Thursday, August 6, 2015. The fabric requirements were fat quarters. . .light and dark. I didn't realize just how many purple fat quarters I had. I also used some purple yardage to have enough variety. I bought six green fat quarters. So my fabric investment for the project mostly came from my stash! I was excited to be using what I had been petting! In the end, I went with the layout on the left. I like pieced backs anyway. I quilted part of it this way:. The stars....

I picked up a couple of bags of fabric to use and divided it all up in piles, which I blogged about a few weeks ago. I pulled out one of the piles today and discovered that the zebra print fabric was originally my old kitchen curtains! Holiday p...
