Left of the Blue Wall: February 2012
http://lorraineob.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
Left of the Blue Wall. Sunday, February 5, 2012. Indoors and Outdoors and on a Hilly Route. You've been out there on the salty roads, I know. You've been training in your reflective vest and intimidating balaclava, hitting the hills, leaving piles of dirt on the rug where your shoes melt post-run. But not me. The harpies have lured me to the flat, smooth, climate-controlled treadmill this season where I RARELY select the hilly route. But yesterday taught me a lesson. Sue (right), Cathy (middle) and I.

Left of the Blue Wall: Triathlon Prep

Left of the Blue Wall. Sunday, May 27, 2012. Maybe I'm more willing to suffer. Been training methodically, working with a coach. She says run faster, I try to run faster. She says bike that hill five times, I do it. Intense. Yoga tells me to rename pain "sensation," breath into working muscles, relax those less involved, use the mind. The biggest lesson I've learned so far: I can suffer and recover. My Olympic distance tri is in two weeks. May 31, 2012. Just heard a clip from one of the Star Wars films:.

Left of the Blue Wall. Monday, May 16, 2011. Marathon: To Run, To Blow. I thought determination was needed to finish a marathon but maybe not. Maybe just one snotty, ignorant, live-in-the-moment step after another is enough. It worked this time. I laughed a little hysterically on the phone to Jim. "Could you give me the phone number for the clinic, honey? It was the evening before the marathon. Train and dream, but unplanned stuff happens. Sue and me before the race. Then another punch in the planning: s...

If you fail to prepare, prepare to fail. – Pre. It was raining all day long. My only opportunity to run outside was between 12:30-2:30 this afternoon so I decided to wait and see if the rain would stop or at least slow down so that I could get my miles in. Instead of stopping or slowing down the rain came down even harder. The treadmill it was! 8 miles instead of my scheduled 10 but I’ll take it. The highlight of my day: stepping on the scale and finally weighing in at my pre-pregnancy weight, at last!

Joe Garland’s (Chiefly) Running Blog. January 25, 2015. January 25, 2015 in Music. I’m not running much. I have to have an operation in early March — straight-forward but necessary — and hard exercise is verboten until mid-April so if one needs an excuse not to run, that’s a good one. Will the fires be re-ignited? Who knows. But I’ve noted the simple exhilaration of the run. Whether that will translate into serious training remains to be seen. Sunday, June 5, at Twin Lakes.
