Jacqueline Taylor: February 2010
http://jacqueline-taylor.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Thursday, 18 February 2010. Sometimes, things hit you, without the slightest bit of warning. There you are, minding your own business and then: WHAM! Whatever it is makes a remarkable impression on you; stopping you in your tracks. On Tuesday, whilst I was in Birmingham doing some PhD research before attending an evening lecture by Elspeth Kidd on Queer Theory, I decided, purely by instinct to visit the Waterhall Gallery, part of BMAG. Which is kind of framework for my research. I started off researching...

Jacqueline Taylor: January 2010
http://jacqueline-taylor.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
Monday, 25 January 2010. The other is not just what we are not, but what we can be. After resigning to the fact that I had to pack up and finally leave Canada after an amazing Christmas and New Year and go back to England, I ended up being stormstayed for an extra week as all flights were grounded in Newfoundland due to bad weather! After a couple of days of living out of a tightly packed suitcase and waiting for 'the call' for an extra flight, I thought to myself "Sod it! Anyhoo, before I go, check out ...

Jacqueline Taylor: January 2011
http://jacqueline-taylor.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Thursday, 20 January 2011. I must confess . I've always struggled to make work for other people and at Christmas when I had a (not so) genius idea to make people pieces of work for gifts, I had a few too many epiphanies about the state of painting in attempting to do so. And, I must confess . I don't think I can paint anymore! There, I said it. "Oh, but you can, your work isn't. I hear you say. But really, I can't and it's okay. It's actually quite a relief! I guess this is just the beginning in a new st...

Jacqueline Taylor: October 2010
http://jacqueline-taylor.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
Sunday, 24 October 2010. I've never seen a rainbow before where you can see it as a full semi-circle and was met with this unexpected surprise as I was travelling through none other than Wolverhampton! The camera couldn't really pick it up but it was there for at least 20 minutes. I guess that's the bonus of having crap weather in Britain, it's just a shame we don't see more rainbows! I'd been looking for a book by the poet Ezra Pound. 10 I qualified for a free piece of fruit! Now that's customer service!

Jacqueline Taylor: November 2011
http://jacqueline-taylor.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 23 November 2011. Sometimes you just need a break. What better way to recharge your batteries than a quick trip to Barcelona! I really love Barcelona because the whole place is just absorbed by art (and it has nice Sangria) - Gaudi treasures dotted around the city, the architecture in general, the many many art galleries and theatres . and the grafitti! Music, words, art everywhere! Joan Miro, Picasso, the Fundacio Antoni Tapies, the MACBA, I could go on. Oh, and it was 22 degrees, bonus!

Jacqueline Taylor: A real-life book!
http://jacqueline-taylor.blogspot.com/2013/02/a-real-life-book.html
Wednesday, 20 February 2013. My philosophy has always been: to be modest, humble and to work hard and when you have achieved something you are proud of, to enjoy it! And indeed one of those times has come! Just over a year ago I started working on a piece of writing for a book and last week it arrived in the world – my words in a tangible thing that you can pick up and leaf through its pages, a real-life book! And what a nice book it is! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

Jacqueline Taylor: September 2010
http://jacqueline-taylor.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
Thursday, 30 September 2010. Signage, pigeons and a right old party! Last week I was lucky enough to take part in INTERЯOGATION: WEST BROMWICH. Which is a series of artistic investigations in response to the regeneration of West Bromwich; exploring the impact than one artist can have in one day. The project is run by Longhouse. And lead artist Anna Francis. Originally, my plan was to sit in the bus stop for about 5 minutes reading my spy-newspaper-disguise. Nevertheless, after faffing about in a split se...

Jacqueline Taylor: August 2010
http://jacqueline-taylor.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Saturday, 21 August 2010. Well, I've finally finished the beast and I've dropped it off in Birmingham. I don't hate it as much, but I certainly don't love it . I suppose which artist really 'loves' their work? I think being self-critical is part of the dialogue that pushes your work. I quite like some of the close up areas but as a whole I'm not sure if it works, hmmm. It felt really good to finally hand it in and after rewarding myself to a little cake (okay so it wasn't little and who am I kidding, rew...
