The Simonsberg mountains are at the centre of the Cape Winelands, approximately 45km from Cape Town, South Africa. These prominent mountains rise nearly 1400 metres above sea level and form a stark boundary between the wine growing regions of Stellenbosch (to the southwest), Paarl (to the northeast), and Franschhoek (to the east). Some facts about the Simonsberg:. Wine has been grown on the Simonsberg since the 17th century. The complete loop around the Simonsberg is 44 km long.
