Senseless Citizen Photojournalism | sardonic ambivalence in a progressive society

Sardonic ambivalence in a progressive society. Some trenchant thoughts about bare-bones humanity. or not. December 13, 2009. To participate in and for them to subsequently score some column inches in the local newspaper. This of course bodes well for a nation often accused for its apathy towards current affairs and societal matters. The main source of my ire, specifically, is budding citizen photojournalists who ostentatiously play the shame game by whipping out their handy camera phones. All this, w...

Sardonic ambivalence in a progressive society. Some trenchant thoughts about bare-bones humanity. or not. December 13, 2009. The world has gotten so caught up in the quagmire that is Tiger Woods’ transgressions that it seems to have lost plain sight of the more important matters at stake. Nothing like tabloid fodder to unleash some good old Schadenfreude amidst water-cooler conversations, come what may. Why are judgments so quick to be passed? Will you be as nasty and unwilling to forgive? The excuse som...

April 30, 2011. BG George Yeo and voting in Englightened Self Interest. 8212; fearfullyopinionated @ 2:16 pm. I like BG George Yeo. I really do. He seems to be one of the only few PAP ministers who are personable yet intelligent at the same time, is well loved by the residents of his constituency, and he presents himself to be a really nice gentlemanly uncle. Watch this. The Aljunied voters are but into a difficult bind this GE2011, and I don’t envy them one bit. To vote in their “own enlightened s...

What does Dr Chia Shi-Lu tell us about Ms Tin Pei Ling, the PAP and the electorate? | Fearfully Opinionated
https://fearfullyopinionated.wordpress.com/2011/04/28/what-does-dr-chia-shi-lu-tell-us-about-ms-tin-pei-ling
April 28, 2011. What does Dr Chia Shi-Lu tell us about Ms Tin Pei Ling, the PAP and the electorate? 8212; fearfullyopinionated @ 6:59 pm. Only two possible answers:. 1) The PAP genuinely thinks that Ms Tin Pei Ling is a superior MP candidate compared to Dr Chia. 2) Dr Chia is the superior candidate to Ms Tin, but fielding Ms Tin is a strategic move designed to greater benefit the PAP. If (1) is true, then residents of Tanjong Pagar should get very worried. Lastly, and don’t laugh, she was intended ...

April 25, 2011. Should Mr Chiam really be running for elections? 8212; fearfullyopinionated @ 4:08 pm. By now most of us have seen Mr Chiam See Tong on television. If you have not, check out the interview. On Straits Times (print edition) which sort of said that Mr Chiam is kind of suffering from Parkinson’s Syndrome, and that he is exercising regularly to stave off the effects of Parkinson’s. If so, does regular exercise do anything to help? Is his condition expected to get worse? Should the people real...

April 26, 2011. RAdm Lui Tuck Yew walkabout double fail? 8212; fearfullyopinionated @ 6:39 pm. Over the past 2 days, two personal anecdotes of RAdm Lui Tuck Yew appeared on the internet. The first was an account of RAdm Lui visiting the condo residence of Mr Miyagi. And the second detailed the interaction between a resident of Moulmein during his walkabout and the subsequent email exchange. If you have not already done so, you should read the second one. The other way round. Is a relatively interesting a...
