Ultra Wag: First British Wedding
http://ultrawag.blogspot.com/2011/07/first-british-wedding.html
Sunday, 31 July 2011. Last weekend, we attended our first of three British weddings this summer. It was our first ever British wedding, and probably the most traditional/formal of the three. It was very similar to a traditional church wedding in the US, with of course, many of the smaller differences. The wedding was in Salisbury, which is around 40 miles southeast of Oxford. Since we still don't have a car (but we both now can legally drive in the UK! As the evening wound down, my favourite part of the ...

Ultra Wag: My baby is already 1!
http://ultrawag.blogspot.com/2013/04/my-baby-is-already-1.html
Wednesday, 3 April 2013. My baby is already 1! Actually, he's 14 months and one day, but who's counting? I can't believe how fast this past year has gone and clearly I didn't make much time for blogging about such an monumental time in our lives. But luckily I've been recording milestones and photos through emails, Facebook posts and good old fashioned handwritten journal and baby book, whew! He's been walking just since around my birthday (mid March) so around the 13 month mark. Oxford, United Kingdom.

Ultra Wag: August 2010
http://ultrawag.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Monday, 9 August 2010. Palace, Picnic and Punting. We've just had a lovely British summer day with our friend Carrie Ginder and her friend Rupa. Ginder is a good friend from Gustavus - Brian knew her from physics and I knew her from my roomies. We visiting Blenheim Palace, had a tasty picnic in the gardens for lunch and then went punting for the evening activity. (Which of course included a mandatory stop at the Victoria Arms pub.). Off to London today! Sunday, 1 August 2010. We took a couple of picnics ...

Ultra Wag: March 2012
http://ultrawag.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, 25 March 2012. Welcome Anders John Smith! We've accomplished many bus trips into town, visits to friends, having friends visit, coffee shops, the pub, and some Dr appointments. We also meet at a baby group each Tues (although he's still too little really) and with the NCT mums and babies on Thursdays. Sometimes we also go to the Big Scream movie on Wednesday, which I really enjoy. Brian is still working out his work/home balance - I can tell that he really wants to be home more now to see Anders!

Ultra Wag: Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Oxford!
http://ultrawag.blogspot.com/2011/12/merry-christmas-and-happy-new-year-from.html
Friday, 30 December 2011. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Oxford! We are very much enjoying our final weeks of just a twosome and sleeping in a lot! Since we haven't made any big plans of travel or exploring, we are cleaning, rearranging furniture and doing lots of laundry. It sure is nice to be lazy and not feel guilty about it! And while it was still easy to travel! On Christmas day, we were kindly invited over to Ian and Kate Walmsley's again for dinner - same place we went to in 2007. It ...

Ultra Wag: June 2011
http://ultrawag.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
Sunday, 12 June 2011. Brian went on Wednesday, so he was there for the conference through Saturday (and had a trip to CERN particle accelerator - like kids in the candy store). I arrived on Friday and enjoyed Saturday on my own just relaxing and exploring. Of course we had to try fondue at least one night - and found a good local place close to our hotel. They serve it in a fondue pot with a handle and along side comes a basket of bread chunks, pickled onion pearls, pickles, small tomatoes, small pot...

Ultra Wag: June 2010
http://ultrawag.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
Sunday, 27 June 2010. June Black Tie Work Do. One of the most fun things about living in Oxford and working for the University is that we get to dress up and attend posh dinners! I didn't get a chance for any pictures of myself, but one of me on the dancefloor with some new friends can be found here. Sunday, 6 June 2010. GAC Alumni Award Ceremony and Reunion Banquet. It was great to see how well Tom is doing after his car accident. John and Marcy were not too far behind and we all went for lunch back up ...

Ultra Wag: May 2011
http://ultrawag.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
Sunday, 15 May 2011. It's not a Ball in the sense of a ballroom with a band and long dresses. It's mainly a more modern day prom like affair, but much bigger and a wilder! Check out the Keble Ball. Website so you can get an idea of what it's all about. Sunday, 8 May 2011. Holy Moly where have I been? Obviously I've let my blogging slip a bit . . . or a long bit! It was a 2011 New Year's resolution to get back into it - and here I am in early May! I'm glad to be back! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Adventure...
