Soda's Sticks: The "Ivy"
http://sodasticks.blogspot.com/2008/10/ivy.html
Saturday, October 18, 2008. I owe a lot of my arcade stick-making abilities to my previous experience with MAME cabinets and the first few people I personally saw make one player sticks: Byrdo. Using some of their creations as a visual guide, last year I came up with a few ideas of my own. The first arcade stick I ever made was the "Ivy" based on Ivy from the Soul Calibur series. I used some official Ivy art that appeared on the net well before Soul Calibur IV came out. I found pretty helpful. I stained ...

Soda's Sticks: Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia
http://sodasticks.blogspot.com/2008/10/castlevania-order-of-ecclesia.html
Friday, October 31, 2008. Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia. Click here to read more. And placed these graphics inside the clear button plungers. I'm pretty psyched how it came out, I can play Castle Crashers, Symphony of the Night and most fighters with it now, but I really hope Konami would create a brand new, 100 hour Castlevania for Xbox Live, WiiWare, and PS3 Network. I'd design the whole thing even, for free! Posted by Soda Popinski. View my complete profile. The Real Bob Roberts. Denver Post - Broncos.

Soda's Sticks: Donkey Kong
http://sodasticks.blogspot.com/2008/10/donkey-kong.html
Saturday, October 18, 2008. I have a few SNES controllers from back in the day, one of them was really well worn, it was likely the very one I used to beat Super Metroid, Super Castlevania and a Link to the Past among others. I decided I wanted to make something special out of it so I sent the controller to HarumaN last spring to hack it and here it is now:. Click here to read more. It's nice that I can use it with a SNES as well as on the PC with Retrousb's. Posted by Soda Popinski. The Real Bob Roberts.

Soda's Sticks: Chun Li
http://sodasticks.blogspot.com/2008/10/chun-li.html
Saturday, October 18, 2008. The second arcade stick I made last spring was the Chun Li. I bought some curly maple off ebay with a "tiger" type pattern in the figure. I used the same dye method as the Ivy only this time with Sapphire Transfast dye. The Chun Li drawing is from an Official Playstation Magazine cover drawn by Ryan Kinnaird. The buttons are Ultralux. Buttons with a graphic placed inside them made out of Mamemarquees. Click here to read more. Posted by Soda Popinski. View my complete profile.

Punch-Out!! Project: Punch-Out 25th Anniversary Beginnings
http://punchoutproject.blogspot.com/2007/04/punch-out-25th-anniversary-beginnings.html
Punch-Out 25th Anniversary Beginnings. So what the heck was that first post? Well it was just a quick step back in time to when I was twelve and the local arcade and Nintendo Entertainment System were flourishing. After learning about the Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator and perusing arcade cabinets other people built from scratch, my first inclination was to recreate the look and feel of that old Punch-Out! I decided to pay homage to Punch-Out! And Nintendo in general by labeling the machine "Punch-Out!

Soda's Sticks: Castle Crashers - Red Knight
http://sodasticks.blogspot.com/2008/10/castle-crashers-red-knight.html
Saturday, October 18, 2008. Castle Crashers - Red Knight. From some earlier arcade projects where I changed my mind on design etc, I had quite a collection of some spare parts, actually enough to make a complete arcade stick minus the wood. So I decided to make another MDF arcade stick for my friend based on the Castle Crashers Xbox Live arcade game that released in August. Click here to read more. This is the button layout I used for Castle Crashers:. X,Y,RT,RB. A,B,LT,LB. In the near future I might.

Metroid Project: The Mother Brain
http://metroidproject.blogspot.com/2008/10/mother-brain.html
Tuesday, October 21, 2008. As I was building the Punch-Out! Style arcade cabinet, I had a few ideas for some smaller bar top arcade machines as well. I thought of making an older full size arcade machine and creating a smaller bar top cabinet in its image. Instead, I decided to pay homage to some of the classic NES games I played when I was younger. I thought wouldn't it be neat if the game Metroid had its own cabinet? Click here to read more. From the description of the little video I made for it:.

Punch-Out!! Project: Control Panel
http://punchoutproject.blogspot.com/2007/05/control-panel.html
I made the control panel from the same kind of cheesy Sauder 5/8" mdf/particle board. I found a template on the net for the button spacing. The buttons have about 1/8" inch inbetween them and the buttons are spaced about 3.5" inches from the joystick. I used a 1 1/8" spade drill bit to make the holes for the buttons and the joystick.
