Speaking of Food: A Chef's Blog
Thursday, June 25, 2015. Time to visit your local Farmer's Market. The "farm to table" movement is not a fade. It's a principle that is here to stay and for good reason. Pickled Melon (recipe below). Large Basil Leaves, hand torn. Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Fresh Ground Black Pepper. Core the tomatoes and cut each tomato in half.

Speaking of Freedom - Great speeches of our time
Speaking of Freedom - Great speeches of our time. Wednesday, September 10, 2008. Energy Literacy (Saul Griffith). A really excellent talk explaining in detail the breakdown of planetary energy usage, what that means per person, and what we need to do in concrete terms to deal with planetary warming. An engineer's approach, you'll like this if you're sick of the intellectual vacuum in the global warming "debate", and want some cold hard facts. Tuesday, September 9, 2008. Thursday, September 4, 2008. Look,...

Speaking of God
2000 Sermons, 25 years, Some Observations (Part 3). This is the third and last post of my observations after 2000 sermons and 25 years of pastoral ministry. In the first two I talked about preaching. This one will be about people. Of course every pastor could share the good, bad, and ugly about people (and people could share the same about every pastor). I want to present this as the kind of people I have known and am thankful for. I have known and am very thankful for little old ladies who pray. There a...
Speaking of Grace
The sometimes elegant journey that is my life, written as it is lived, one day at a time. Monday, October 17, 2011. Barefoot on the beach. Just enjoying life and all the new thrills through the eyes of a two year old. Tuesday, July 26, 2011. My baby sister is now a newlywed. My house was the backdrop for this beautiful couple to say I do. My nephew was the "best little dude" and played dual roles for my sister and new brother in law. My dad and my sister rocked out! My older sister and I at the rehearsal.
