The Spiralling Shape: August 2012

http://spirallingshape.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html

Sunday, August 26, 2012. Saccharine promos make me ill. Sadly, I have no tales of incident-packed personal grooming for you today. I managed to shave my legs again yesterday without any leftover salad hijinks. It's been a week of busy busy busy. Ohof course I watched Rockwiz. That goes without saying because it is the best thing on the teev at the moment. Mary Wilson from the Supremes last week was truly inspirational. When I grow up I want to be Julie Zemiro. Labels: living in the regions. It's not exac...

The Spiralling Shape: November 2012

http://spirallingshape.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html

Monday, November 26, 2012. Labels: living in the regions; trivia. Sunday, November 25, 2012. I've been eyeing this pattern on the various online fabric sites I've recently discovered. It was a little bit pricey in one store but on all the others it was sold out so I finally relented and bought it. Saturday, November 17, 2012. Friday, November 16, 2012. Really looking forward to wearing it very soon and perhaps making another one as well :-). Sunday, November 11, 2012. Jason Segel is good as well, as is t...

Of course there's every chance that this time next week I might be throwing the workload document out the window. But for now.let's be positive! Labels: living in the regions; trivia. Saturday, January 5, 2013. And I am cute too. Over the next little while I have to start reading for my research project on community cu...

The Spiralling Shape: December 2012

http://spirallingshape.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html

Monday, December 31, 2012. Things I'm not thinking about. Days of the week. Living in the regions; garden. Sunday, December 30, 2012. I took myself to the movies this morning to see Les Miserables. I am always a bit concerned about going to see films of which I have heard good reviews. Inevitably, I am disappointed. Perhaps my standards are too high? Whatever. This post isn't about me. It's about Russell Crowe. This is what it should sound like:. Saturday, December 29, 2012. I like it a lot! Then I fell ...

The Random Chaos of Renovations. Posted 7 May 2012 in Life, the Universe, and Everything. This week, the hallway and main bedroom are slated for painting. This leads to a complex game of Tetris (or, perhaps, Jenga), since the contents of the spare room and the study are still clogging the living room, after last week’s painting. So, rather than move all that material back and then move the hallway and main bedroom ephemera into the living room, we’ve just shuffled. All is chaos and strange juxtapositions.

Articles in Doctor Who. Live-blogging Doctor Who Season Seven: "The Angels Take Manhattan". Posted 6 October 2012 in Doctor Who. What, you want a longer synopsis? Well, all right, then. Either way, there they all in New York, with the Doctor reading a modern reprint of a ’30s pulp novel about ‘Melody Malone’, which he picked up because he liked the busty woman on the cover. Where did you get this book? It was in my jacket. How did it get there? How did anything get there? I’ve given up asking. Rory manag...

Lifeline Bookfest 2012 (January). Posted 17 January 2012 in Books. Oh, Lifeline Bookfest. How I look forward to you every year. Well, twice a year, actually. And yet … and yet. They’d also made what was, to me, a fairly significant change in the structure. The Bookfest has three sections: high quality, priced, and unpriced. Often, the unpriced section is. And, as a cursory glance through my past posts will show, I tend to focus my attention on the children’s books, and then have a quick run through...

Circulating Library: Film

Posted 13 September 2011 in Film. 8230; just turned up on my doorstep, and it’s making a bad day (Nick’s off for some frightening medical tests this morning, while I’ll be invigilating an exam) that much brighter. A few weeks ago, I came across Kathleen Jennings’s blog and, particularly, her Dalek Game. Where she replaces a word in a famous book title with the word “Dalek” and then draws a delightful pen-and-ink sketch of the result. Has to be Wuthering Daleks. It’s right here. And it’s magnificent.

Sunday, July 13, 2008. Last weeks highlights . Now that was funny and you are so wrong! Had the pleasure of seeing. Again at the Hob (Forest Hill) on Thursday night.
