You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave. March 16, 2014. My home away from home. This week’s submission is another re-post of an article I penned in 2005 for The Kingston Whig-Standard. What I wrote then still rings true today; perhaps even more so. I was reminded of this story, when earlier this week, I was reminiscing with a former co-worker about the circumstances surrounding the last days of our employment together. As you can imagine, it was somewhat of a stressful time. Most pe...

https://storiesfromdoreyville.wordpress.com/2014/01
You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave. January 25, 2014. Take me out to the ball game. I lived and breathed Montreal Expos baseball. In a time before every game was televised, I followed Dave Van Horne and Duke Snider on the radio, hanging on every word and visualizing the play-by-play in my head. You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave. March 2, 2014. Rubbing elbows with the stars. The planets have aligned for this week’s blog post. First, there was the recent passing of Harold Ramis, creative genius behind such comedy classics as Animal House. National Lampoon’s Vacation. In which he co-starred with Dan Aykroyd. Second, it’s Academy Awards time. The glitz and glamour. Hollywood’s annual celebration of itself. It happened sometime in the early 90s (as best as I can remember).
