Sue Knight's Blog

Wednesday, 12 August 2015. Not an Eagle's Feather. There is a feather floating like an exquisite hovercraft over the balcony tiles this morning. Its beauty and its engineering tell me of its Grand Creator, Jehovah of armies. And it also reminds me of a poem - Browning? That I am now going to see if I can find online. And, yes, there it is. Its the ending of his poem "Memorabilia", and it goes like this:. I crossed a moor, with a name of its own. And a certain use in the world no doubt,. The Kindle app ca...

Sue Knight's Blog: February 2015

http://sueknight2000.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html

Saturday, 28 February 2015. Weavers Down - Can Nothing be Left Unspoilt? The Grayling butterflies, and many other creatures, are about to be turfed out of Weavers Down to make way for another golf course. How selfish we - the children of Adam - are. We are leaving no space for the creatures with which we share the planet. To see how to object to this planning application please see The Captain's blog:. Http:/ colinknight.blogspot.co.uk/2015/02/weavers-down-please-object-to-golf.html. We both have return ...

Sue Knight's Blog: April 2015

http://sueknight2000.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 29 April 2015. Tulip Time at Arundel Castle. And the kitchen gardens. The whole world should be beautiful. And it will be. We treated Pen to lunch in the Castle dining rooms, which are all they should be. A competent lasagne with salad for us girls, a chicken pie for The Captain, and we shared a piece of carrot cake afterwards. Sad to see Pen go, but lovely to have seen her, and we all hope to get together for a writing day 'oop North this summer. Monday, 27 April 2015. Friday, 24 April 2015.

Sue Knight's Blog: Elizabethan Serenade

http://sueknight2000.blogspot.com/2015/08/elizabethan-serenade.html

Thursday, 6 August 2015. Listening to Elizabethan Serenade by Ron Goodwin while looking out over a calm grey English Channel from our retirement flat fills me full of strange feelings - an Autumnal sadness mixed with the feeling of a Spring day. Perhaps its the two ends of my life meeting? The 1950s - a time of great hope for a brave new world, a time of youth and looking forward. But a vanished age, as distant from children of today as the Victorian Era was to us then. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Sue Knight's Blog: March 2015

http://sueknight2000.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

Monday, 30 March 2015. The Memorial - Friday April 3rd. Also, he (Jesus) took a loaf, gave thanks, broke it, and gave it to them, saying: “This means my body, which is to be given in your behalf. Keep doing this in remembrance of me.” Luke 22:19. Jesus commanded that we commemorate his death. So, every year, millions gather after sunset on the 14th day of the month of Nisan - which falls on April 3rd this year - to memorialise this important event. Saturday, 28 March 2015. There was a terrible noise as I...

Sue Knight's Blog: July 2015

http://sueknight2000.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 29 July 2015. On the work with one of my sisters yesterday morning, and it turned out she knows one of the ladies on my magazine route - has witnessed to her on the bus and at the bus stop. We all had a good chat. We finished our assigned territory, along with my last two route calls for July. And I got myself out later on some overdue return visits. The situation at the Channel Tunnel and its Ports seems to be getting desperate. What will happen next? And how bad will it get before Armageddon?

Sue Knits Again

Saturday, May 07, 2011. I finished the Nightsong Shawl and blocked it on a bed. It is soft and lightweight and I'm very pleased although I have nothing in these colors. I still have plenty more of this yarn and I'll put it away for now. Now I must start another shawl and I'm trying to marry various yarn with patterns. My state of mind with Mac in and out of doctor's offices and the hospital plays havoc with my concentration and I end up tinking and frogging. Saturday, March 05, 2011. Last year I bought s...

Sue knits and spins

Sue knits and spins. My knitting, crochet, spinning, weaving and dyeing journal. Thursday, 27 January 2011. Late last year, I worked on this sampler from the book Doubleweave. This is doubleweave pickup which takes a long time, but is very satisfying to do. Once the current towels are done, I'm planning another doubleweave project. Labels: 8 shaft table loom. Sunday, 16 January 2011. On the loom is the third tea towel of this warp of 3/14 cotton. These are the first two off the loom. I had to re-beam...
