My thoughts and adventures whilst running around the world. I wannabe a Wannabe *. So I end 2014 by running a marathon! Well what else would you do during the day on News Year Eve? I was at the inaugural Flitch Way marathon, billed as a very flat and pretty out and back mostly along an old disused railway line. Again I was drawn to the word flat But I have discovered that Event Directors obviously have a different meaning to the word flat! The last few miles back to the finish was a long small gradual cl...

I want to be more than a wannabee – Keep on Running

My thoughts and adventures whilst running around the world. I want to be more than a wannabee. Next up was The Thames Summer Meander on 29th August where I had unfinished business. I had to pull out of the Spring Meander in March due to problems with metatarsalgia, although I did manage to hobble round Bushy parkrun that day instead. I hadn’t done any training for 9 weeks before going into this one and only had recovered from a virus so my plan was to take it easy and enjoy it. Overall a pleasant day out.

My thoughts and adventures whilst running around the world. A Dame and a PB. It’s only March and it has already been an awesome year! First up is parkrun. I managed to clock up my fastest time of the year on 6 Feb and before you start thinking it’s only February, the parkrun year at Basildon is March April. I was on my own for this one as Andrew was suffering. Keep reading and you will see a pattern emerge! Marathon no.21 arrived on 13. Back to parkrun when on 19. Feb was the 100. Until that morning the ...
Nothing is impossible – Keep on Running

My thoughts and adventures whilst running around the world. So I signed up. After running 5 marathons, I have had this theory that I could run further if I ran slower without the pressure of getting certain time. The advantage of an ultra is that a lot of people wouldn’t have the foggiest idea of what is a good time! However, I set myself a target of sub 6hrs with a 7hr cut off time. So I downloaded a 16 week 50k training plan and did a lot of reading! 8211; Audrey Hepburn. October 27, 2014. Leave a Repl...

July 6, 2015. Never confuse a single defeat with a final defeat. I couldn’t run Harp24 this year, had to pull out because after 12 weeks my Achilles is still not right, still painful, still preventing me from running more than 10 minutes at a time. Keep on Running | My thoughts and adventures whilst running around the world
My thoughts and adventures whilst running around the world. Sorry, this is a longer than normal blog! I have been back from NZ for over a week now which has given me time to reflect on marathon no. 19. Our motel was just around the corner from the race HQ and the start line, so collecting my race pack the day before was so easy. We got there early so that I could start mentally preparing for it. I find that once I have my number in my hand then it hits me! Race day started with a small stroll down to the...
