The Geography Lady

Travels and Whatever else strikes my fancy. Tuesday, June 10, 2014. Well, my dad fell. And like many other people his age (late 80s) he managed to break a bone, specifically his femur. The ball at the top of the femur snapped off, and they had to replace it. That was 10 days ago. He spent 7 days in the hospital, and then was moved to rehab. So I have 2 weeks - that is how long the PT said it would probably take to get him going again. Keep your fingers crossed. Saturday, May 24, 2014. Monday, July 8, 2013.

The Geography Lady: 4 Lectures, the Museum, plus Dinner and a Show

http://texasgeographylady.blogspot.com/2013/07/4-lectures-museum-plus-dinner-and-show.html

Travels and Whatever else strikes my fancy. Monday, July 1, 2013. 4 Lectures, the Museum, plus Dinner and a Show. So we went back to the university. Today to set through four more lectures. Today we learned about democratization, especially the June Movement. Lunch was at the university cafeteria, but they had it set out for us so we didn't get to choose. The fish were tasty, the rice fine, and kimchi. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Geographic Travels with Catholicgauze!

The Geography Lady: March 2013

http://texasgeographylady.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html

Travels and Whatever else strikes my fancy. Tuesday, March 12, 2013. Day 3, to Cuzco. I have not had much sleep – my roommate M. Is sick with some stomach bug, and has been up and down all night. I grab a bite to eat at the hotel breakfast buffet – fresh fruit, rolls, juice. The coffee is terrible. They have ham and cheese, some sort of cereals, but I pass on those. Our group meets downstairs, and we drive to the airport. Through domestic security, then downstairs to wait. I feel really sorry for M .

The Geography Lady: March 2012

http://texasgeographylady.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html

Travels and Whatever else strikes my fancy. Monday, March 12, 2012. Visiting Seattle during the winter is not for the outdoorsy. We have been here a couple days and have had rain, brief sunshine, and snow. Today we're in Bremerton running errands. We went from snow in Seabeck on the Hood Canal to rain on the Puget Sound side of the Kitsap peninsula. Such a short distance yet way different weather due to the water and topography. The Geography Lady: June 2013

http://texasgeographylady.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html

Travels and Whatever else strikes my fancy. Friday, June 28, 2013. Day 2, We Visit a School. The second lecture was Korean economics from Park's coup in the 60s up to the present. I had forgotten that the current president is Park's daughter. We learn about the move from agricultural, primary economic activities to Korea's inclusion in the 20-50 club. Our lectures and lunch have run past the alloted time, so we hurry to the bus and drive to Goyang Foreign Language High School. We drove back to the hotel ...

Texas Geological Press — Photographs from the Big Bend

Photographs from the Big Bend. Southern Margin of the Marathon Basin. October 21, 2009. Continuing down the Marathon Basin on Hwy 385, the southern margin on the left of the highway is seen in the above photograph, taken 24 miles south of Hwy 90. On this margin, the Cretaceous strata dip only very slightly to the south, perhaps because they are a distance from the center of the uplift. The knob in center is a small intrusion. Several similar intrusions occur along the margin. October 16, 2009. Continuing...
