Travels and Whatever else strikes my fancy. Tuesday, June 10, 2014. Well, my dad fell. And like many other people his age (late 80s) he managed to break a bone, specifically his femur. The ball at the top of the femur snapped off, and they had to replace it. That was 10 days ago. He spent 7 days in the hospital, and then was moved to rehab. Continuing down the Marathon Basin on Hwy 385, the southern margin on the left of the highway is seen in the above photograph, taken 24 miles south of Hwy 90. On this margin, the Cretaceous strata dip only very slightly to the south, perhaps because they are a distance from the center of the uplift. The knob in center is a small intrusion.
