Textile Treasure Seeker: Love Vintage

http://textiletreasureseeker.blogspot.com/2010/11/love-vintage.html

Monday, 15 November 2010. This weekend saw me heading to the village of Wenvoe, near Cardiff, to sell my wares at the 'Love Vintage' fair, organised by the lovely Samantha (Salway) and Maggie (Cooper). There were three rooms jam packed with vintage treasures as well as tempting tea and cakes, vintage music playing and a merry hubbub of vintage enthusiasts. Complete with new designs for my handmade hanging decorations and cards that I've been working on. Monday, November 15, 2010. A Bun Can Dance. 15 Nove...

Textile Treasure Seeker: January 2013

Monday, 28 January 2013. On the Home Front. In these days of austerity and belt tightening, I thought I'd share some snippets from another time when 'make do and mend' was the order of the day. They're taken from 'Woman' (week ending 11th April 1942). To hoard or not to hoard. I love the language that was used in adverts like this one, "But the way to keep looking lovely.". A room for receiving visitors.now there's an idea! I often think we could learn a thing or two from our thrifty predecessors. When I...

Textile Treasure Seeker: August 2013

http://textiletreasureseeker.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html

Thursday, 29 August 2013. One of the great things about going to shows like The Festival of Quilts is discovering new textile artists whose work you can admire. I 'found' Mandy Pattullo. At this year's Festival and I'm so glad I did.her work is so inspiring. Mandy is a textile artist and teacher who bases her work on collage techniques and uses all sorts of vintage loveliness in the pieces she creates. Applique, buttons, an old Harris Tweed label.there's so much to look at. Thinking About the Flowers.

Textile Treasure Seeker: February 2013

Friday, 22 February 2013. These Shoes Were Made for Walking. This is the story of a pair of shoes that made their way home after fifty or so years. These are perhaps the most elegant pair of shoes I've ever owned. I bought them from a vintage shop a few years ago. Now, this is the bit where I confess to a bit of girliness.they weren't in my size and I would never have been able to wear them, but they were just so pretty. I had to have them, if only to look at! They even came in their original box. Perhap...

genialgemsandothergabblings: March 2014

http://genialgemsandothergabblings.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html

Day to day life from a Lancashire Garden. Friday, 14 March 2014. I thought I would share some of the view around Keswick that I took when we were up there earlier this year. The snow on the top fells had been melting and making its way down the waterfalls and streams and came in a tremendous rushing ,frothing ,foaming torrent into the River Greta that flows through Keswick. Rowing boats sitting idle at Derwentwater. Black and white shot of the Jetty. Winter scene at Derwentwater. Spark Bridge Terrace at ...

genialgemsandothergabblings: Wildlife in the Lanes

http://genialgemsandothergabblings.blogspot.com/2014/09/wildlife-in-lanes.html

Day to day life from a Lancashire Garden. Friday, 5 September 2014. Wildlife in the Lanes. Coming back from doing the shopping yesterday, I took the route on my bike that bypasses the busy roads and instead used the green lanes the wind around the back of New Longton. I was hoping to see wildlife as I had taken my camera and I was not disappointed. First there were a pair of Buzzards criss-crossing the fields in search of a snack, then a kestrel made an appearance hovering after some prey. I often wonder ...

genialgemsandothergabblings: Charlotte Bronte and Wycoller Hall

http://genialgemsandothergabblings.blogspot.com/2013/02/charlotte-bronte-and-wycoller-hall.html

Day to day life from a Lancashire Garden. Sunday, 3 February 2013. Charlotte Bronte and Wycoller Hall. I thought we would miss the snow.and to a large extent we did but on the Monday 2 weeks ago we awoke to a lovely scene of all the trees ,bushes and lawn covered in a good few inches. Bebe was less enthusiastic, tiptoeing around the garden to get up for his food and then spent the rest of the time the snow lay on the ground, asleep in his warm cosy bed in the greenhouse. The fireplace at Wycoller Hall.

Textile Treasures

Monday, June 22, 2015. I'm back and I'm dyeing! It's been such a very long time since I did anything on my blog - ill health strikes again! I found I just haven't had anything to say. The brain wouldn't function and I've done very little in the way of new work so there didn't seem to be much point in blogging. My health is still a problem but the brain is currently ticking so I took advantage of it a couple of days ago and did some dyeing. Added to this, I'd seen Craftsy. I know a reasonable amount about...

My life in stitches. Tuesday, 14 July 2015. My second Fakenham Makers Market. A slight rejig of my stand presentation, Jim made a cushion stand for me, I painted it various colours, you can just see here. Lovely friend Yvonne Autie loaned me her hanging rail which made the quilts much tidier and easier to view. It worked! I sold a large double quilt! Another Moonlit Hare cushion attracted much comment, but did not sell this time. I could NOT leave out a couple of shots of the brilliant toilet facilities!
