Alex Mitchell: the Edible Gardener

Alex Mitchell: the Edible Gardener. Bitter late than never. So I said I would post a photo of my home forced chicory after a month. Mmm, this is slightly embarrassing. That was almost three months ago and let’s just say I’m not buying the pear, stilton and walnuts quite yet. Sheesh, these are some slow chicons. Also they look rather brown in places, which I am trying to ignore. This entry was posted in Growing stuff. January 13, 2015. Le freak, c’est chicon. Watch this space…. October 21, 2014. Novice Greenie: And here I go...

http://novicegreenie.blogspot.com/2010/07/and-here-i-go.html

Friday, July 2, 2010. And here I go. It’s all turning out to be a lot trickier than I anticipated. First of all, it’s the middle of a very cold, cold winter here in Sydney and I’ve got two more months of cold, cold weather to get through. It would be nice to have discovered this new hobby as we moved into spring, but hey, why make things easy for myself? Posted by Ceylon Kitchen. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Novice Greenie: The Spinach Experiment

http://novicegreenie.blogspot.com/2010/07/spinach-experiment.html

Saturday, July 3, 2010. For a really long time we had a bunch of seed packets lying around the house; my mum had bought them and done not much else with them. So when I decided that I wanted to plant a few things, the first thing I did was to go through those packets. Here’s what happened next:. 2) Now that I had a nice clean bed, I started digging little pockets within the soil. I followed the instructions on the back of the packet on how to space the seeds and how deep they need to be. Once I h...I kne...

Novice Greenie: And the Lemon Balm culprit is....

http://novicegreenie.blogspot.com/2010/07/and-lemon-balm-culprit-is.html

Wednesday, July 14, 2010. And the Lemon Balm culprit is. So last night I went on a couple of gardening forums and asked for help as I still had no idea what those pesky white bugs were and how much damage they were doing to my lemon balm plant. I got my answer through the ever helpful GardenWeb Forums. And the culprit is. Here is a better picture of them:. I'll be going to my local nursery this weekend for some much needed advice. I really don't want to lose my beautiful, fragrant lemon balm plant.

Novice Greenie: The problem with Coriander

http://novicegreenie.blogspot.com/2010/07/problem-with-coriander.html

Friday, July 2, 2010. The problem with Coriander. About a month ago I bought a little coriander plant. It was happy enough, small and green and quite cute. However, pretty soon after it moved into its new home a strange thing happened. The leaves started to change from green to. red. A weird, browny-red colour. It doesn’t look right and is bugging me to no end. Suffering from a nutritional deficiency? Really, really cold? I suspect this might be the case. Posted by Ceylon Kitchen. View my complete profile.
