The life and times of one Meg.: leave sport out of it
http://meglulofs.blogspot.com/2009/03/leave-sport-out-of-it.html
The life and times of one Meg. Tuesday, March 3, 2009. Leave sport out of it. Today a group of men (who remain at large) attacked a visiting team of Sri Lankan cricket players in Lahore, Pakistan. It's incredibly angering because I worry Pakistan is going the route of a failed state, but I'm especially distressed to see terrorists (I assume, though we don't know yet) meddling in the world of sport. Think of how sad it was when the Olympics have been canceled in the past because of war.

The life and times of one Meg. Monday, March 2, 2009. 1 in 31 adults in the US are in the correctional system. A new Pew Study reported in the New York Times today. Program I both know of and like: Drug Court Program (keeps you out of lock up, working towards your GED and getting general life training). Program I know of and don't like: whoever's bright idea it was to put yellow plastic boat things stacked on the floor.and call them beds. Picture from Library of Congress' American Memory Collection.

The life and times of one Meg.: university vs. law school, and beyond
http://meglulofs.blogspot.com/2009/02/university-vs-law-school-and-beyond.html
The life and times of one Meg. Thursday, February 19, 2009. University vs. law school, and beyond. There's a truly telling article in the Times today about the sense of entitlement undergrad students feel about their grades. “Instead of getting an A, they make an A,” he said. “Similarly, if they make a lesser grade, it is not the teacher’s fault. Attributing the outcome of a failure to someone else is a common problem.”. Maybe all school should be more like law school? February 26, 2009 at 2:19 PM. Subsc...

The life and times of one Meg.: phond memories of phish in hampton
http://meglulofs.blogspot.com/2009/03/phond-memories-of-phish-in-hampton.html
The life and times of one Meg. Monday, March 9, 2009. Phond memories of phish in hampton. I'm from the big little town of Hampton, VA. That traffic clog right before you get to VA Beach on the scary side of the tunnel), and almost every year when I was a kid, hippies of all ilk descended on the Hampton Coliseum. That's a lot of dime bags. Le sigh. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Foodie Duo: Meg and Sarah's food blog. Silver Spring, MD, United States. View my complete profile. Subscribe To Meg's blog.

The life and times of one Meg.: a world without newspapers?
http://meglulofs.blogspot.com/2009/03/world-without-newspapers.html
The life and times of one Meg. Tuesday, March 17, 2009. A world without newspapers? Is going all online. As of today, and even though I don't live in Seattle, I'm kind of sad. I really don't know what my life would be like if there were no local daily in my area. I always used to "read" the "newspaper" at home, the Daily Press, thinking of better days when I would live in a place with a real paper. If the Post went down though, where would I be? http://meglulofs.blogspot.com/2009/02/sisters-from-another-mother.html
The life and times of one Meg. Sunday, February 15, 2009. Sisters from another mother. In honor of Black History Month, I share with you all the observation I have just made upon watching Love and Basketball. For the 8,984,365th time:. Are Alfre Woodard and Allison Janey not the ebony and ivory of one another? I love it, I love them. Labels: black history month for white people. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The life and times of one Meg.: don't believe everything that you read
http://meglulofs.blogspot.com/2009/02/dont-believe-everything-that-you-read.html
The life and times of one Meg. Monday, February 16, 2009. Don't believe everything that you read. This morning in the NYT: the changing role of school librarians. As teaching kids how to sift through everything that they read/see/hear/Google and get the good stuff. As wary as I generally am of school librarians, this looks like a step in the right direction. Drop that Caldecott Medal! Chattering librarian action figure is pleased. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Foodie Duo: Meg and Sarah's food blog.
