Weedy Garden: STATE OF THE GARDEN: 04-14-13

The taming of an unruly jungle. Sunday, April 14, 2013. STATE OF THE GARDEN: 04-14-13. Well, progress in the yard still continues incrementally. You can't tell in this picture, but there are three large branches cut clean through here. But this plant is so wound around on itself and thorny that it is a challenge to pull those branches out. Grab hold of that big one hanging in the middle, plant your feet and PULLLLLLL. I believe that I've correctly identified this vine as Virginia Creeper. It keeps po...

Weedy Garden: February 2009
http://weedy-garden.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html
The taming of an unruly jungle. Saturday, February 28, 2009. I got a shot of this garden helper. I'm not sure yet what he is, but I see them on my mango all of the time. I always like seeing them, as I believe that they are working hard getting the bad guys and keeping my mango healthy and happy. Unfortunately I have not been able to spot my Gulf Fritillary caterpillar for a couple of days. I'm concerned that a bird may have gotten him. But I did spot this little guy. I think it'll be okay, though. Three...

The taming of an unruly jungle. Monday, February 18, 2013. State of the Garden: 2/18/13. The garden is still going pretty well. We had some pretty cold weather last night (I think we got down to around 37 degrees), but the plants seem to have survived just fine. My bean plants have the first flowers showing. Including my Scarlet Runner bean plant. I had a Better Bush tomato ripening on the vine, and something ate it. And then started in on the other tomato that was ripening. So whatever is eating the tom...

http://weedy-garden.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
The taming of an unruly jungle. Friday, May 21, 2010. Garden Update: May 2010. For the first time since I've lived here, my magnolia is in bloom! The trees by my lanai are in bloom as well. Now that I have these blooms to help me identify them, I think that I am now comfortable identifying these as Shady Lady olive trees. The lubbers are infesting the yard- both big and small lubbers. My gardenia is in bloom now. The rubber vine is in full bloom right now. Links to this post. Sunday, May 9, 2010. I also ...

Weedy Garden: September 2012
http://weedy-garden.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
The taming of an unruly jungle. Thursday, September 27, 2012. Well, the yard is coming along, little by little. I hired my cousin to come over and do some work around the house and yard for me. Remember behind my shed? That picture in the banner at the top of this blog? Well, this is it today. And now my guava tree can finally see daylight. My Bismark Palm can now be walked under, which will make it much easier for mowing. And the garbage guys have their work cut out for them tomorrow. What I can't figur...
