Seed Starting Class | the garden experiment

https://thegardenexperiment.wordpress.com/2012/02/09/seed-starting-class

Sustainable, organic and native gardening in the suburbs of St. Paul. 2012 Gardening Calendar →. February 9, 2012. I was pretty successful last year as far as seed starting goes. My only problems were due to fungus and hardening off (or a lack of hardening off, as the case may be). Nothing life shattering, but it doesn’t hurt to learn more. I went to Mother Earth Gardens. You need 1 warm and 1 cool bulb which equals full spectrum of light. 14 – 16 hours of light. This entry was posted in seed starting.

First plantings of the year | the garden experiment

https://thegardenexperiment.wordpress.com/2012/04/24/first-plantings-of-the-year

Sustainable, organic and native gardening in the suburbs of St. Paul. Fruits of my labor. First plantings of the year. April 24, 2012. I planted the onions, radishes, carrots, cilantro, spinach and chard today. Put the tomato, pepper and basil plants outside for about 5 hours. Meant to keep them out for only an hour. Whoops. Fortunately they were in the shade the whole time but one tomato plant is looking a bit brown. Thankfully I have way more plants than I can actually use. And tagged early spring.

tomatoes! | the garden experiment

https://thegardenexperiment.wordpress.com/2011/07/26/tomatoes

Sustainable, organic and native gardening in the suburbs of St. Paul. July 26, 2011. I couldn’t resist. After I took this picture, I ate the yellowest tomato, the one right in front. It was sooooo yummy, even though it wasn’t totally ripe. There is nothing like a just picked home grown tomato still warm from the sun. This entry was posted in Uncategorized. Monday, August 10, 2009. UPDATE I talked to a friend of the family in the SUV. Both husband and wife are suppose to be released from the hospital either today or tomorrow (Tuesday). Praise God from whom all blessings flow! Patience and I went to Plainview on Saturday and were almost involved in this. SUV ran a stop sign and pulled on to the highway. I was able to swerve and miss him, but the little red car in the left lane was not. Now to the most awesome part of this story. This is six year old J, s...

The Garden Experiment

A first time gardener's blog about gardening. Sunday, January 2, 2011. It's been far too long! So I didn't exactly follow up with this last year but I did follow up with the garden.  I'll post a slideshow of the season soon.  For now you'll have to trust me that it was a fantastic year! 160; The garden gained a lot more space in the backyard and we attempted a number of new crops.  In 2010 our watermelon plants actually survived producing two delicious melons and we grew a massive pumpkin! Three days int...
