The Hungry Birdie: Lighten up

http://thehungrybirdie.blogspot.com/2012/02/lighten-up.html

Thursday, 2 February 2012. In the colder months, I usually crave warm, hearty, and rich meals. But, oddly enough, I've been on a bit of a salad kick lately. I know, I know, I'm only contributing to the widespread myth that we vegans only. Eat salad. And although that's clearly not true ( exhibit A. You get the picture), I do love me a big old bowl o' veggies sometimes! 1 cup small potatoes. 2 cups shredded romain lettuce. 1/4 red onion, thinly sliced. 1 tomato, sliced. 1/2 cup white beans. This salad loo...

The Hungry Birdie: Blog birthday!

http://thehungrybirdie.blogspot.com/2012/01/blog-birthday.html

Monday, 23 January 2012. Today is a special day around here. It's The Hungry Birdie's first birthday! I started this blog mostly as a challenge for myself. I had just made the decision to become vegan and figured a food blog would be a great way to motivate me to try new recipes. It certainly worked! 10 Grilled "cheese" with jalapeño pesto. Melted vegan cheese and jalapeño pesto, what's not to love? 9 Spicy sweet potato salad. I mean come on, it's just so pretty! 8 Creamy butternut squash rigatoni. This ...

The Hungry Birdie: Twenty twelve

http://thehungrybirdie.blogspot.com/2012/01/twenty-twelve.html

Monday, 9 January 2012. I've been a bad blogger. it's true. It's been weeks since I've posted and I feel a teensy bit worse about it each day. Honestly, I was so wrapped up in the frenzy of exams followed by the holidays (and all the visiting/eating/partying that they entail) that I've been painfully neglecting my poor little HB. But no more! It's a new year with lots to look forward to, including The Hungry Birdie's first birthday. Does that make me an official, legit blogger? I'm thinking it does.

Posted in salads - side. Hey – long time, no blog! Since I last posted, things have gotten CRAZY. Grad school is kinda nuts, and basically, I had no idea. 8220;Cooking,” these days, usually involves nothing more complicated or labor-intensive than broiling oven fries while my husband grills sausages. “Friday night mussels” are no more, and we eat a lot of pasta, pizza, and takeout. (The depressing long, cold Northeast winter hasn’t helped, either.). About using frozen corn! 1/2 cup diced celery (you can ...

I had a chance to go around the Second Restaurant Day in August 11th, 2016! On that day, I visited a food tent built only at the following day on the park of Turun Linna (FI: Turku Castle). The place caught my attention as they mentioned in the restaurant day website that they serve medieval food. And so I went there. I saw some pe...

Quick Weeknight Meal: Tomato & Feta Stuffed Chicken Breasts. Raise your hand if you know those nights when you walk in the door after a long day and instantly regret not picking up food on the way home. Spoiler alert: my hand is up. Here’s an easy weeknight meal with only THREE ingredients (well, 5, if you count s&p) that still packs a whole lotta flavor. I think the key is using fire roasted tomatoes with green chiles which you can pick up at your local Trader Joes. Click to read more! Where Have I Been?
