A Wilder Magic: April 2015
http://www.a-wilder-magic.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Friday, April 24, 2015. My cheeky delight. It's hard to believe that this time next year I was lumbering heavily with you within, waiting so impatiently to meet you - and here you are now - so very you, so very here. You spend the entire time we're at the supermarket trying to get out of the trolley seatbelt to stand up like the little Boadicea you believe yourself to be. You remain entirely adorable. From the way you say 'up, up! It was only after we got out puppy that your nana reminded us that her mot...

A Wilder Magic: And the rain came down.
http://www.a-wilder-magic.com/2015/05/and-rain-came-down.html
Monday, May 4, 2015. And the rain came down. The score of ibis form a large inverted ‘v’ across the grey sky, heading inland over a paddock of brightly green grass and cattle. 8220;Look kids, look at the birds, aren’t they beautiful,” I point through the rain-splattered window. Beloved glances over at me. “You’re not a Queenslander.”. 8221; I frown. 8220;When birds head off like that it’s not a good thing.”. 8220;Hmm.” I leave it, but remember his words the next day. 8221; I look at the clock. I jump fas...

A Wilder Magic: January 2015

Saturday, January 31, 2015. 5/52 - finding our feet. Sprocket, heading into the mangrove swamp. Poppet, running on the beach at twilight. She seems to be all legs nowadays. Clothes in her size are too short and I have to go up a year or two. Littlest, so happy to be sandy, she crawls into the water without fear - "Da-da-da-da! After her daddy. Here's too gorgeous pudgy, sandy, baby toes. For a portrait of my little ones once a week, every week in 2015. Links to this post. Saturday, January 24, 2015.

A Wilder Magic: March 2015
http://www.a-wilder-magic.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, March 29, 2015. Our newest (furriest) baby. So here he is - Harry Haven Wolfe - the newest member of our family! The kids call him 'Wulfie' and I call him Harry. We're yet to see what his final name will be. (I've also suggested Felix as he's such a happy soul and I'm partial to Luke 'because the force will be strong with this one.'). When he gets a little overwhelmed he comes to sleep between my feet and I exclaim again over his amazing softness. Whew - I'm not surrounded solely by furless half-...

A Wilder Magic: October 2014
http://www.a-wilder-magic.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Friday, October 10, 2014. We went down to the sea in the holidays, my parents coming with us for five slow and lovely days. With limited internet, and a promise to Beloved to try to keep the camera from harm and not take it near the sand, the world seemed more immediate, the days lazy and gentle. The sky was blue and the kids stopped wearing their shoes on the first day - it took me three days to start leaving my flip-flops at the house and walk bare-foot along the orange clay roads and pathways. But the...

A Wilder Magic: A Wilder Magic
http://www.a-wilder-magic.com/p/a-wilder-magic.html
Emily of New Moon, L.M Montgomery). I've been meaning for awhile to change the name of my blog from Mischief, Magic and Mayhem - it never seemed quite right, but I wasn't sure what to change it too. I began thinking about what I really wanted to reflect in my blog, what I'm really wanting, for my children, for myself. And for my children, for myself, and for my writing, I want a wilder magic. I want that sense of wonder, that we are terribly close to something joyous and startlingly beautiful. These are ...

A Wilder Magic: November 2014

Sunday, November 30, 2014. Safe-Keeping the Christmas Pudding. Now that we're officially in Advent I feel I can become a little Christmas-y. The scent of dried fruits and sugar, butter and spices bubbling away on the stove is one of my favourites, and I love the way it all froths up when you add the bi-carb. Voila! Just in case we do. Decide to put away an afternoon to head down to the shops (O oh. Has pineapple. And I'm a sucker for pineapple. 2 1/2 cups mixed dried fruit. 1/2 cup sultanas or raisins.
