Thinking Out Cloud

Living Amongst the Clouds. Andy, Kaysey and the Little Men. Monday, December 8, 2014. Back in July Andy and I took the boys to see their very first movie at the movie theater. We went and saw Planes Fire and Rescue and it was a perfect first movie experience. The boys were great and stayed in their seats (for the most part) the entire time. Since then Andy has taken them to their second movie (Big Hero 6) so they think they are regulars! Do you think they will go see the princess movies with me too?

Thinking Out Dog

Wordless Wednesday Labrador style. March 20, 2013. What do you think of this post? What is life like for today’s American dogs? March 4, 2013. Sue Sternberg shared some great overall concepts to consider about the life of a modern dog. In the United States, much has changed over the years to effect the daily lives of dogs. From her lecture, “Predicting and Handling Aggression” (2011) (which I’ve watched on dvd):. The world is getting more difficult for dogs:. 8211; Less access to the natural world. 8220;...

Thinking Out Faith

Incidental Writings on Books, Ideas, Theology and Culture. Friday, January 30, 2009. Sinning in Public: A Morality Dialogue. Setting: Two friends, sitting around a living room of a Sunday afternoon. Pieter: Hey, let me ask you something, an ethical hypothetical if you will. Pieter: Ok, say one day a guy’s driving along, minding his own business, when he sees a person apparently stranded by the side of the road. Theophilus: I’m with you. Theophilus: Hmmm. I get the picture. So what of it? Pieter: But reme...

Sunday, April 4, 2010. Farewell, but not Goodbye! Dear fellow bloggers,. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for reading my thoughts about all things communication on my blog. Thanks for sticking with me through my blogging struggles and successes, especially in the beginning stages as I was attempting to discover the emerging blogosphere and establish my own blogging style. I want to read books with my kids for pleasure and go on adventures and take walks and sit on the porch swing and water the flowers and just be. The problem is.school hasn't even started, and I'm already finished. And the worst part is.it's not like I only have a few more years of dealing with the beginning/ending of school.I have an 8 year old, remember? Not really. Learning About Teaching

Friday, March 9, 2012. The most important part of learning how to teach students math is to be in an actual classroom working with actual students on math. I found this in-class work to be an essential part to better understanding student thinking. Being mindful to represent student thinking in their work and not my thinking in their work is something I will try to keep in the forefront of my math teaching. Links to this post. The problem we presented to the students was:. The first thing we realized was...

Thinking Out Loud

Monday, December 15, 2008. Whew, the first sixteen weeks are completed and its time for a well deserved break. Sunday, October 19, 2008. As Kopacz (2006) explains, non-verbal communications are very important when trying to persuade an audience. In each of the negotiation meetings, the business associations came well prepared, exuded confidence, and dressed professionally. In contrast, the department of health official’s demeanor was defensive and appearance casual. Kopacz, M. (2006). Nonverbal c...When ...
