A Sweet Makeover | This Old Colonial Home

This Old Colonial Home. Filling our house with love and a lot of DIY. August 3, 2015. By This Old Colonial Home. Well I can’t show you the bathroom just yet, but I can show you the nursery! I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to before the baby arrived, but luckily he or she is still cooking … giving us a little more time to get things done (and putting my mind at ease)! You may recall this is how the room used to look – reserved for guests. I love how it turned out! Simple and subtle, but so cute!

This Old Colonial Home. Filling our house with love and a lot of DIY. Category Archives: Home Decor. January 1, 2016. By This Old Colonial Home. Well hello, old friends! I’m certainly not complaining. Our little one truly is a blessing. But I do miss decorating and DIYing and sharing it with you on this little blog. Also, I just had to share some gifts I received for Christmas. Check out this crafting apron! And how cute are these chalkboard mugs? Thanks, family. You get me! Click to share on Tumblr (Ope...

This Old Colonial Home. Filling our house with love and a lot of DIY. August 13, 2015. By This Old Colonial Home. I’ve been talking about it for months, and now the day is finally here! Our renovated bathroom is done! Are you ready to see it? Drum roll, please! It’s such a rewarding feeling seeing the classic black and white bathroom that we had envisioned for our 1930s house actually come to fruition. Let’s take a look around. The same goes for our black and white floor! That’s where the new pocke...

Tuesday, November 11, 2014. Hey ya'll, hope you are enjoying what's left of this fabulous fall! It has been a nice, enjoyable, relaxing one for me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the prayers and well wishes on my surgeries. Finally getting back to normal. kinda. Still having to slow down and sit down every once in awhile. My body is constantly reminding me that it's not that young anymore, hehe! Book page ideas I have been seeing on Pinterest. I also picked up an old Bible that is ripped a...

Thursday, March 12, 2015. Hi friends, remember me? I've been hit and miss for the past couple of years and MISSING you all like crazy! I've been cleaning up my blog this week. Got rid of the Feedly reader, that thing was more of a headache than it helped. I see that some of my blog friends have closed their blogs or have been absent for a long time like I was. It saddens me, but I'm VERY grateful for you that are still here. I rented a booth with a friend at The Grapevine in Claremore, OK last year. ...

Berry Homespun Primitives: Dining Room Shelf
http://berryhomespunprimitives.blogspot.com/2014/08/dining-room-shelf.html
Thursday, August 14, 2014. A close up of the red undercoat followed by another coat of black on top. I finished it off with black Bri-wax and loaded it up with a few prims. It's a nice addition to my dining room, especially with all the natural wood. Best of all, I love how it only cost me $3, a little paint, and an afternoon of fun with my little guy. Oh, and look at the tiny butter mold I found, barely 1 1/4". I was SO excited! Thanks for stopping by, wishing you a grand week. XOXO Love ya Fran. Love y...

Berry Homespun Primitives: March 2013
http://berryhomespunprimitives.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
Tuesday, March 26, 2013. The kids headed back to school today after being off for 10 days and truthfully, I did not. A thing. Lol, I needed a day of rest! You know where this is going, right? You only see the arm of the little guy, he took off as the bucket turned, haha! Now he's back and loving it. Kids are so funny. Crazy kid, he cracks me up. After playing long and hard in the lazy river, the playhouse, and the slide, it was time to relax in the jacuzzi part of the pool. The place was packed. I spent ...

Berry Homespun Primitives: September 2013
http://berryhomespunprimitives.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 10, 2013. Well I tried it and discovered it's not for me. I was super excited about it but should have known it would be too dark for my liking. I waxed 2 pieces of indian corn and I just hate the way it took away from the natural beauty. I'm gonna scrape that wax off. The whole time I was cutting up the corn I kept thinking how pretty it is and how it's going to be so hard to sell it, being the fall lover that I am. Now I'm excited that I've decided to keep it all, lol! Anyway, that's...

Tuesday, June 18, 2013. I hope you are enjoying your summer so far. We have actually slowed down quite a bit and I am LOVING sleeping in and going to bed whenever I want. which is why I'm writing this post at 4:30 in the morning, lol! LOTS had been going on. as usual. I started a part time job in April at the historic Skelly Lodge. I can't decide what I want to do with them .craft supplies? Jar lights for the back yard? Maybe a little of each? What would you do with them? I put my sieves in a colander be...

MS SQL Server and Those Pesky NULLs. So I’m working on a Rails application with a MS SQL. Server 2005 back-end. The application needs to access the Dynamics GP data stored on that server, and while I could have other tables (users, sessions, etc) stored separately in, say MySQL, I elected to keep them all together, at least for the time being. (I’ll detail the steps I used to get unixODBC. Installed and working on OpenBSD 4.2. In another post. In the meantime, this is the Rails wiki article. Met my needs...

A complete gut renovation of an 1860's colonial. Do it yourself and save. Friday, November 27, 2009. This was taken before we started working on the house. The pine was massive and took up too much space in our backyard and shaded my garden. Tuesday, November 3, 2009. We called the guy who removed our radiators to see if he would take down and haul away the garage, but the value of scrap metal has gone down so we had to pay him to take it down. It was the best $80 we spent. Monday, October 19, 2009.

Cultivating this Old House
Monday, July 18, 2011. Long time Entryway Remodel. When we bought this house five years ago it had been owned by ex military persons and. As in just about every room, layers upon layers of wallpaper had been painted over. The floor was checkerboard linoleum. So, being newly pregnant and nesting with our sweet Addie, I decided to first rid myself of the floor and crossed my fingers that underneath this 120 yr old portion of the house would lie something exciting - wood or tile was my hope. I used the old ...
