If you too are inspired to commit to verse send your odes to Bill for adding to the Blog or if they need typing to Sue. Sunday, 2 March 2014. It was a full house at the February gathering, with some quite delightful poems recited, some humorous (Tom Cat), some topical (the recent storms with 'To the Fallen Trees, etc), and some with a dual message of sincerity and satire. In all, a very, very successful meeting enjoyed by everyone present. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Template images by TayaCho.

Totton U3A Books: September 2009
http://tottonu3areading.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html
Meeting at each others' houses once a month to discuss the chosen book. Sunday, 20 September 2009. The book was called Arthur and George, a story of a true Victorian scandal concerning the son of a converted Indian Anglican minister in a traditional English village. He was convicted and sentenced for poison pen writing and horse maiming on ludicrous racially prejudiced non-evidence. The group enjoyed the book and discussed the various themes and sub-plots. If you too are inspired to commit to verse send your odes to Bill for adding to the Blog or if they need typing to Sue. Sunday, 2 October 2011. Met at Myra's on Friday Sept 23rd for the subject of Harvest. Old loved poems and newly written ones gave much pleasure to we three who made it to the meeting. As always, fresh insights are brought to well known words by another reading them. Sometimes singing them too! Please note some of our group will be performing at Hanger Farm. http://tottonu3ahistorygroup.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html
History and Wine Groups. Wednesday, 21 August 2013. Our latest meeting was at Val Westalls on the evening of Monday 19th August. There were 7 members present, apologies were received from the other three. Our fist wine was a red French Burgandy- Pinot Noir Grape- medium bodied. The average mark out of 10 was 6 1/2 and it cost £7.18. Some comments were that it was sharp, strong tarty and heavy, tasting of blackcurrant with a clean smell. Our second wine was a Merno from New Zealand- costing £10.00.

Very enjoyable walk at Holmsley railway station long since disused and abandoned. The station is now a teashop in the middle of a ring road. The track we followed alongside of what was the platform a crumbling brick structure was totally new to us. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Template images by TayaCho.
