Finding my voice...: July 2011
http://tannisreturnstouni.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Cool things about living in central New York (State). Tuesday, July 5, 2011. I'm in the writing stage of my thesis. I'm writing, and making figures, and tying up loose ends with my data. In other words, I've reached the, "don't ask me how it's going" phase. For the last two years, as my thesis project has evolved, I've had lots of ideas and questions floating around in my head. Every time they popped to the forefront, I told myself I'd deal with it later. Well, "later" is here. Posted by Tannis McCartney.

Our Adventures: September 2011
http://plus60adventures.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
Wherever our wheels take us. Thursday, September 15, 2011. A Leaning Tower, Sun, Surf and Steep Climbs. On our way to The Cinque Terre we had a short stop in Pisa to check out the leaning tower. When the bus stopped we were swarmed by African people selling sunglasses, umbrellas and almost any other cheap trinket you may be looking for. With the thousands of tourist visiting this area the tour buses have a large parking area and from there we take a local bus to a drop off point. The latest was in 1990.

Our Adventures: March 2013
http://plus60adventures.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
Wherever our wheels take us. Saturday, March 23, 2013. The morning we left Cape Town we woke up to rain. This caught us off guard as the skies seemed very clear the evening before and the forecast did not call for rain. So we set off for Paarl after another wonderful breakfast at An African Villa. Anyone planning a stay in Cape Town I would recommend this Guest House. A Tribute to the Afrikaans Language. Before leaving Paarl we stopped for a visit to the Nederburg. Here I paid about $7.50. I was wonderin...

Finding my voice...: An open letter to undergrads

Cool things about living in central New York (State). Wednesday, February 8, 2012. An open letter to undergrads. I was one of you once. I was not perfect. I'm still not perfect. But I have learned a lot in the intervening years, both in the workforce and since I returned to university for a graduate degree. I want to share some of those lessons with you. Don't be afraid to be wrong. That is how you learn and how you grow. Seize every opportunity you can to be better: a better student, a better fr...I spe...

Finding my voice...: August 2011
http://tannisreturnstouni.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
Cool things about living in central New York (State). Monday, August 22, 2011. In my adulthood, there has been one active federal politician who has inspired me with his leadership, his charisma, his passion, his integrity. And in the wee small hours of August 22, he passed away. I don't even want to think about what this might mean for the immediate future of Canadian politics- it's too bleak to imagine. My friends, love is better than anger. Hope is better than fear. Optimism is better than des...Such ...

Our Adventures: September 2012

Wherever our wheels take us. Sunday, September 9, 2012. Inside Passage, Alaska. After being back home from Kananaskis for a week we drove to Vancouver where we boarded the Celebrity Century for a 7 day Inside Passage cruise to Alaska. The scenery is absolutely stunning. Yes, it could be argued that Alberta Rocky Mountain scenery is equally as stunning. Our cruise through the inside passage took us through Johnstone Strait travelling very close to land on both sides of the ship. 65279;. There we were me...

Our Adventures: October 2011
http://plus60adventures.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html
Wherever our wheels take us. Saturday, October 1, 2011. Our first stop is Assisi. St Francis, while born in Assisi and spent so much of his life is not the patron saint of Assisi. This honour goes to St. Rufino who was also the first bishop of Assisi in the 3. Century. Assisi dates back to the 3. Century and became a flourishing Roman municipality. After the fall of the Roman Empire Assisi went through a considerable period of wars and ruled by the Goths and later the Byzantine and later the Lombards.
